Actually, much worse.
If I flunk it I might have to drop out of my program. But I did ok.
Maybe got a 40% on the exam. With the inevitable curve, I might actually pass!

Well, that was put on the record for the SOPA committee hearing as I recall, so it makes sense.

Re: The General Chat thread
There's this guy on youtube that hasn't left me alone since before Christmas, trying to argue a logical fallacy that ostensibly "proves" evolution is nonsense. Over time, his arguments have grown simpler, smaller, and less ignorant of the facts. I have explained abiogenesis, macroevolution, the non-binary ("true-false") nature scientific investigation, all sorts.
This morning I notice an email in my inbox alerting to another message from him.
"@Lyinginbedmon maybe the reaso why new fly's can not breed with the old fly's is because the old fly's are dead. Adult fly's only live a month, that sounds almost impossible to test. Also according to the circular fossil record fly's haven't changed in 65 million years. "
And here was I thinking he had a glimmer of hope.

Re: The General Chat thread
The trouble for me with people like this is that my philosophy is to not leave a debate like this one until it reaches a conclusion, partially because doing so is inevitably perceived as my surrender, but mostly for the most terrifying conclusion one can come to regarding religion and ignorance:
These people can vote.
These people can vote.

Re: The General Chat thread
If someone is so clearly plug ignorant, I don't care what their opinion of me is and just ignore them. If I were you, Lying, from this point I'd assign only sufficient attention to him to put his name in the blocked/ignored list on YouTube and move on without a backward glance.
Seriously, you're just stressing yourself out over someone who probably needs slip-on shoes just to be able to leave their house.

And honestly, voting rights are not really that big of a deal. Some of these "idiots that can vote" are smarter about voting than the general populace.
Also, that insult Is extremely childish.

Re: The General Chat thread
If they voted more intelligently than most of the voting populace, it wouldn't be political suicide in the US to claim to be anything other than Christian.
True, actual lunatics are typically prohibited from voting, though I believe the US also makes the statement that no "idiot person" can vote either (though that may be an old source).

Re: The General Chat thread
Speaking of lunatics, today I noticed that a local used car dealership changed their sign to read:
"JUSTIN BIEBER ** SHOPS HERE!"
My response was, in order of thoughts (and all assuming this sign was true/referring to the famous dude):
1. Why the hell would Justin Bieber buy a car out here of all places?
2. Why would he buy a used car?
3. ... Why would anyone buy a car from a dealership on the basis that Justin Bieber bought something there once?!
I just ... what?
Sorry, I had to tell someone.

If someone really doesn't believe in Evolution than YouTube is not going to be the place where he'll be converted. 500 characters with a person he's never met isn't going to have enough influence to change the default stance that WE the individual are always right.
