Re: The General Chat thread
I'm nearly finished moving back into my parents' house. This should explain any radio silence from me in the last few days. I don't actually have my own computer hooked back up yet. Now to finish unpacking and find some work.

Greetings everyone! I have returned from the feeding frenzy of the Steam Summer Sale, I'm glad to report I can still afford food.
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

The last thing I tried to sew was an open wound in my arm. I say "tried to" because it was a sloppy job. Had to rip out the sutures and clean out the wound.
I think I'll practice on other things such as David Cameron.

Re: The General Chat thread
As somebody who has been brought up in a fiercely anti-conservative household, I always feel guilty when saying that I think David Cameron isn't actually an awful PM.
Just to clarify, his choice of cabinet is about as terrible as it's possible to get, and I hate his attitudes towards the NHS with a vehement passion, but in all other areas I actually reckon he's alright. He at least appears to care about the people of his country, and never looks out of his depth or like he's being lazy.

Re: The General Chat thread
On an unrelated note, the latest episode of Extra Credits. To be honest, it's less to do with gaming, and is far more an essay on unhappiness and the human psyche. It is fantastic.

That is so weird - I came over here to mention the exact same thing - it makes me feel like I'm living up to my name.

Not enough in Clare or Limerick. Just saying. I want more than cloudbursts. Quit hogging the rain.

Re: The General Chat thread
Being in Japan made me wonder how 'strong' my Australian accent is. Apparently (after asking around), very. I always thought my accent was more subtle, but I guess it is more subtle than most. (I have been asked if I was Russian, don't know why).
Also: Japan rain, STORM STORM STORM STORM stop.

@residents&visitors-of-eire: Lucky you. There's "a chance of thundershowers" this afternoon, but I'm not holding my breath. Add to which, the humidity will remain in the 90%+ range for another day after that doesn't give me much hope for relief.

My back garden flooded yesterday, along with a lot of Dublin. You should be getting tonnes of rain, the west is always cloudier than the east.

I've been asked that too, in regards to my (weak) Scottish accent. I don't think people these people actually know what a Russian accent sounds like.

Re: The General Chat thread
Blame The Hunt for Red October.
Also, General, just because a region is cloudier than others is no guarantee it'll be rainier.
Day three and we might be able to call this a Heat Wave. Humidity just won't let up, but at least there's a nice strong breeze to ease things.
Grabbed the bus across town and did some shopping at the mall (I now have shoes that don't have cracks through the soles ), got lunch at the food court, and then popped on the bus again and travelled the REST of the way across town to the other mall - been trying to find a place to get my hair cut that a) isn't a 'boutique' that'd charge me $50 to touch my hair with a pair of scissors and then hold up a mirror and oooh and ahhh, or 2) doesn't have a two-hour wait.
In the end, took the bus back home and settled on a half-hour wait at the local salon, and got the 1/2" guides on the clippers to shear the excess hair off my scalp. It feels MUCH better (and it allows me to see that I've got a 'laurel wreath' of grey hair - the crown is still brown, as is the sides (you know, that'd remain if a monk got a tonsure?), but silvery grey along the curve between the top and sides, all the way around. Huh.
Had a couple of showers in the afternoon during bus rides, and a third one as we walked the last leg home (oh...even the illusion of relief). And they're saying this hot, humid stuff may clear tomorrow...

Do you suppose the crew have started gearing up for DBFH 007 yet?

colon pee
I'm still hoping they'll name it '007: Octobussy', just because they'd get soooooo sick of explaining that "no, it's actually number 7, not 8. Yes, we KNOW that it has 'octo' in the title, it's still only number 7" WEEKS before DBFH even starts!
Brilliant.
