Went to my LGS and entered my first-ever Draft (M14) and played my first games of actual paper magic. Could've gone better (1-2, 1-2, 0-2, so 0-3 all in all) but it was good fun. Drafted Selesnya with Howl of the Night Pack as firstpick and the single card to win me the two matches I eventually won. Mediocre deck piloted by a beginner, but at least I didn't make a complete fool of myself playing.

Thanks for that, LRR's MTGOAcademy-videos.

I heard the end of a "New" bare naked ladies song so I went onto pandora and put in BNL... the first song was if I had a million dollars live, the next 14 songs were not BNL...

If you select a artist, especially one with a deep catalog you will typically get more of their songs than 1 in 15. For example, I have a "Real big fish" channel where 4 out of the past 11 songs were RBF. Yes, sometimes im in the mood for silly ska.

I'm heading off to a music festival in about 2 hours to work at it which means I'll be without internet until Wednesday morning. I shall create my own internet while I'm there, comprised of ants and breadcrums. The ants will be the electrical current and the breadcrumbs, or lack thereof, will determine whether the current flows or not.

In all seriousness though it should be fun. I'm getting paid in food and booze :D

For the last two days of my "play lots of computer games to combat depression" study, I couldnt get enough bandwidth to play MTGO, or LOL, I ended up playing oregon trail and Sim City 2000 because those were the only things installed on my wifes laptop. I had too much fun.

I'm currently taking a game design class. It's a bit less interesting than I thought sadly. There's been no actual game development. Instead, much of the class has been about reading and creating a game design document.

Which brings me to the part that I'm posting about. My game design document is already 12 pages long with only four images. I need to create environmental and character mockups and descriptions, have only added the intro level (the rest aren't required but will realistically be in the document), haven't added all the story information, haven't added all the character information, etc. The only required part is the character and environment stuff, but I'm hoping to continue with this game, so... yea. Not sure if I should be proud or not at the length of the document already.

Personally, I think you should be positively smug that you're willing to put the amount of effort a good game deserves into it. So long as you don't overreach yourself, keep it the hell up.

So something just crossed my mind there.

There are two hungry dogs and one rabbit.

They all go simultaneously. A minefield is a terrible place for animals.

Actually, not always; one of the main reasons that a lot of the minefields have never been cleared from the Falkland Islands is that they make ideal penguin sanctuaries. Before the war, the local penguin population was in decline as sheep and predators encroached on their habitat, but penguins are so light that they can walk right over a mine without setting the thing off. this means they can inhabit minefields whilst their enemies (and poachers) can't, meaning the minefields will probably never get cleared, bizarrely, on environmental grounds.

I'm doing a school music comp, and I'm deciding what song to do. Narrowed it down to five and am polling my friends to see what song I should do.

Hey Michi, looks like we'll be in Dublin one of the days next weekend (17th/18th). Any places in particular I should see?

Also, please tell me there's somewhere I can get sushi. I haven't had sushi in so long, and decent sushi in longer.

Been ages since I've been to Dublin, but I'm sure they've got to have a YO! Sushi somewhere.

Although I've never actually eaten in a YO! Sushi bar, so I can't say if it's decent or not.

Good small talk is the product of a reasonable quantity of life experience, one's ability to evaluate, examine and selectively prune said experience into a manageable series of bite sized chunks, and one's ability to remember and deliver said chunks in an appropriate fashion given the context of the situation and conversation at hand. With the majority of people, particularly those likely to be found on this forum, it is this third category which presents difficulty. The key skill is one of mental clarity/organisation and practice, not to mention the crucial ability of knowing when to shut the hell up. It should be noticed that I am hardly the ideal candidate for practicing what I preach in this situation.

It mostly involves spending less time on the internet.

This is the main reason why I do not practice what I preach, and consequently have no friends :)

I'm pretty good at small talk, and I spend a lot of time on the internet.

But then again, people sometimes complain I have verbal diarrhoea. So I don't know if that's more the case.

I often get the feeling that people stop listening to me half way through what I'm saying. : /

:D Awesome! There's a few places. Yo sushi is good but I haven't been to any of the bigger ones so I can't say anything when it comes to variety. I hear that Yamamori is also super good (if a bit pricey). I'm not that big into sushi so I go for spicey food places. If you're into that then go to either Boojum for DA BEST BURITTOS or the Mongolian BBQ.

As far as things to do there's things here and there. There's the viking tour which is essentially a a history tour of Dublin for families but it's in a amphibious car that, depending on the tide, goes into the river. There's museums and other historical places here and there. Since you're there on a weekend there's a book/food, eh, festival, I guess is the word? It's in a place called temple bar and it always smells INCREDIBLE.

Stephen's green is a nice park to walk through and it's next to a pretty decent shopping centre. Trinity college has the book of Cells if you're into more history shtuff. Forbidden Planet is a comic/collectors/geek shop on the quays. Grafton street leads up to Stephen's green and you'll see plenty of street performers there along with a good variety of shops.

That's all I can say on Dublin without further spamming the thread :P PM before you guys get here, I want to give you hugs :D
