If we can get the inflation rate up to 7%, then every year Desert Bus will automatically be running another hour for free, just by raising the same amount of money! If we can get the US dollar into hyperinflation, we might even be able to hit the "infinite bus" limit where each desert bus isn't over yet when the next is scheduled to begin...

Today I had my first ever letter addressing me as 'Pseudo-Ix'. For some reason, this made me giddily happy.

I can tell it has a different director.
That Millennium Falcon shot would have never been done by Lucas.
I'm still cautious about the film, especially given the title, but I'll still see it wanting to like it.

I thought the laser crossguard or whatever it's called looked pretty silly.

The Claymore design I am okay with. Some people didn't like the look of Maul's double bladed lightsaber and look how that turned out. Best part of the trilogy.

Re: The General Chat thread
The claymore looks more like design than practical. Like they wanted to make it swordy looking rather than, efficient.
Does open the door wide open for varied designs.

Re: The General Chat thread
I'm on board with the crossguard on the lightsaber too. There seems to be an inverse correlation between how practical a lightsaber looks and how effective it is.
Besides, my guess would be that it's some kind of ancient sith weapon.

Re: The General Chat thread
To be fair, lightsabers having no guard at all does leave you open to losing your hands (see General Grievous). Perhaps who ever is using this saber is planning on a style that needs the guards.

When you think about it, when two sabers are pressing against the other a Jedi would have to worry about the extra blade cutting them or trapping their blade between the two.

Yeah, but it would be just as dangerous to the user as their opponent. That said I'm really hoping whoever that sith is does kill some random jedi by turning on the crossguard in a saber lock duel.

Re: The General Chat thread
I like the idea of having a crossguard on a lightsaber...I'd just prefer Cortosis quillons instead of superheated plasma ones.
Darth Maul's double-sided lightsaber worked because they were able to take advantage in creating an awesome fight scene - pure Hollywood Flynning, but damn if it didn't look good. I just don't see how to do the same kind of thing with just light-quillons.

Re: The General Chat thread
I think there are a number of postive things about the trailer, nerdy nitpicks notwithstanding:
The first two faces seen in the new Star Wars universe were of a minority and a woman. That's a pretty big deal. (Ever read the KotOR comics? Literally EVERYONE who isn't an alien is white. It's kind of disturbing.)
I also forgot, thanks to the prequels and EU overexposure, how EXHILIRATING Star Wars used to be. I saw the X-Wings flying over the lake and I was like "Whooooooa!" I saw the Millennium Falcon back in action and I was like "AAAAH!" It was nice to feel that again, even if the movie itself doesn't live up to it.

It's all over but the crying. And the taxes.

I'm currently reading through The Bounty Hunter Trilogy. I don't care what anyone else says, Boba Fett survived.

Well, duh - he's wearing a suit of ARMOR - stomach acid and spiky teeth are just a hindrance; Boba just bided his time until things quieted down and then just climbed out and went back to work.
As Master Gunner noted, I hope the whole 'hilt' area of that quilloned saber is made of Cortosis, otherwise trapping the opponent's blade would just drive it to an easily destructible point.

I was actually pretty excited, and I didn't really care much about it before (I sort of "grew out" of my Star Wars fanboy period quite some time ago), but something with the music and the X-wings and Millennium Falcon...
Regarding the new lightsaber, I'll just leave this here:

Re: The General Chat thread
Okay, I'm old, jaded and cynical, and while I'm not gonna hold my breath over this, it looks like it'll be entertaining.
So I'm still sick (sore throat that makes it painful to swallow...or talk), and the month just rolled over, I was sitting in bed kinda bored - too tired to DO anything online, but not tired enough to sleep - so I decided to fire up the job search sites and do my monthly apply to a score or so and never hear back from any...
...when this caught my eye:
Now, on one hand, I've no experience working with kids, it's been decades since I've last fiddled with any physical block-toys/design-tools, and to be honest, while I understand how redstone works, I'm rusty on the specifics and just avoid it in game because I don't wanna 'work'
...also, right now in my infected state the prospect of interacting closely with germy, poor-hygiene-habits toddlers-to-teens doesn't appeal.
BUT, the fact that a local 'community college' is offering these courses/workshops/etc is pretty cool!
It made a kinda depressing task a little less mood-killing and gave me a smile.
