Listening to some old podcasts and in the one for Deeply Religious Jer just finished HL2 Episode 2 and said "the ending makes me wish that episode 3 comes out before 2013". Valve has 7 months to make his wish come true.

I'm just about to do my last exam as an undergraduate at NUIM. I'm not panicking, I feel pretty good about it but there's a lot riding on it.

I put on weight for my training. I'm going to need to buy more clothes the next size up. I always thought that my training would burn it off and I'd be more toned but I just seem to get bulkier with muscle or fat! As of right now? A bit of both!

And now it's time for that gruesome training for the next 3 hours! Time to fill up a few bottles of water!

That's why I wanted to make a separate thread! Actually, Graham or Matt, if you're reading this, would it be possible to take all of those posts, put them in a "Sexual Harrassment Thread" and lock it? And have the sex thread back? I'm sorry. >.<

I already considered it even before the thread got locked. The question is, which terrible innuendo to use as the thread title?

So I am pretty well set on going back to school in the exciting and tantalizing world of "Supply Chain Management and Logistics" Which goes with my Army and past work experience but I think there is more to it.

I was thinking about my personality and what has lead me to this choice and I thought about games I like to play and it kinda clicked. I hugely enjoy Turn based strategy games, and while some people like to plan then run ahead I am perfectly happy playing a game to turn 300 instead of pressing a little harder and getting the win on turn 160... Even in games like Risk or Axis and Allies, I tend to build up walls then push one country forward, and I hate real time games in online settings like Starcraft because I love to mine out an area then push forward rather than rush in. Which got me to thinking that in todays video game society could a app be designed to link games/play styles with careers?

Now there are obvious and wrong coronations "I like Call of duty, I guess Im going to be a soldier" let me tell you Call of Duty and being a soldier are not related.

Very few people will just play any game, people tend to have a style of game they like and in those games a style of play.

Those of you in a field do you and your coworkers have similar gaming likes? Do your gaming styles coincide with your field?

I would say I play game series rather than classes of games. Civilisation, Total War, Hearts of Iron, Blizzard games that are not WoW, Half Life (plus Portal and TF2), Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Minecraft. I know other astrophysicists who play almost all the games I play (or ones like them) but I do not know anyone who plays the same mix as me.

If you do not mind me asking, what level of qualification are you studying towards Lord Hosk?

I've played games from one or more of those series regularly, with the exception of Blizzard's games. Right now, I almost exclusively play Paradox Interactive games. I went back to Darkest Hour after a new version of the Kaiserreich mod came out.

A handful of mental health professionals I know are pretty into a lot the Zygna games, thought I think they view them more as a teaching tool than a means of entertainment.

I am going to be finishing my BS first of all, my original plan was to get a MBA but I dont have the concentration levels I once did so I will have to see once I get back into school. Some of the people I talk to have suggested that getting back into a college level of interactions will help me retrain my brain. I dont mean to be insulting to my former peers but the level of discourse rarely went beyond boobs, booze and what was on reality tv last night. I tend to agree as being on this forum has helped me think a little clearer I think.

I mostly like shooters and the occasional AAA Western RPG like Fallout or Skyrim, but I don't think it has any relation to my chosen profession, science (experimental medicine).

You'd think a drum teacher would like games like Rock Band. Fucking hate it. The drum kit is just a toy and I have my own electric drum kit. It's gorgeous too. It's actually HARDER for a real drummer because while you play the actual beat, the game doesn't like that and sometimes there's a delay. It's a mess. It's a toy. It's not any form of real musical training.

I like my games with story or my games that require me to think and plan ahead.

Not that it'll likely change your opinion of the game, but the newest Rock Band game actually does have an adapter that lets you play the game with a MIDI drum kit (or keyboard). It also sounds like wherever you played hadn't set up the lag calibration, because when it's set correctly there shouldn't be any delay.

Woohoo! Machinarium! When it works that is. Most of the time I just get the background and sounds but no characters or objects. This gives me a sad.

Also, as a drummer myself, it helps to mess with the calibration settings for both Video and Audio.
