The BBC has done another documentary about Video Games.
This time, balanced.

I recommend listening to it. You can watch it too.

So with all the discussion about the Canadian Federal Election and in particular about how one candidate - Justin Trudeau - is having to break the 'impetuous youth' image he's saddled with, I got curious and checked to see how 'young' he IS...

Trudeau is just three months older than me.

I...I don't know...well, how I feel about this - it's rather surprising, but I can't tell if I'm sad about it, or happy... Image

He's only a couple years younger than Harper was when he first became PM. Trudeau just looks ridiculously young - but a term or two as PM would certainly fix that.

I sent off a plethora of refund requests to Steam for games I have played very little of, or games that never worked, or games that no longer work because Microsoft were twats (Fable 3).

I hope I receive a majority of refund and it doesn't affect any "refund rating".

I chose Steam Wallet, so that it may increase my chances of being approved, since Steam WILL get their money back.

(Posting this in a few places for more visibility.)

Does anyone know someone who is a parent or teacher of a deaf child/deaf children? I'd like to interview them for a paper for my Masters. Thanks to anyone who can help!

So, after the worlds briefest discussion on Kathleen with no makeup during the CP+ stream, I wound up thinking.
Kathleen literally just looks like Kathleen with a runny nose. I see two of my friends literally every day with and without makeup, and they just look like themselves, with or without makeup (Relative to whether they had it on when I first get to their place.) unless they actually are sick or tired, in which case they look like sick/tired themselves.

I know our opinions about a person can change our physical perception of them a bit here and there. (Most obvious example is not being attracted to extremely attractive assholes.) But how far can that go? Is it possible that I, and by extension some other people meet someone, go "Oh, that's what they look like." and then start basing our entire physical opinion on them off of their personality? I'm really not conveying what I'm thinking well, I literally don't know how to explain it after sitting here for about 10 minutes or so. If anyone has figured out what I'm trying to get at here, discuss?
Being a former fat kid and constantly bullied because of it, I'm always interested in understanding how people perceive eachother physically since I kind of had a limited, very bad understanding of it until a couple years ago.

Perhaps it's part of "first impressions" and to another extent "most often impressions" of people, maybe since Kathleen in makeup is what we were first and most often presented with, without makeup seems odd to us. Humans are most often noticing of change, so anything changing from either what we first saw or what we usually see is cause for us to notice.

It's a sad day for Australian gamers as it seems that the parent company of Games.On.Net has shut them down. No official word yet if it's just the news site or if the hundreds of games servers they provided will also be shutdown.

not to bring the bummer...
need to get this off.
i slipped at work over the weekend, and fell down a marble starcase...... and now i cant stop thinking about how the eff did i survive that with minimal injury.

Yes im fine, and honestly... somehow i shrugged it off and kept going.

yes IM FINE.

Sustained only a few scratches that healed really quick.

so yeah still puzzled on how i survived it.

Humans can have remarkably bouncy instincts, possibly something to do with evolving in trees for a good while.

Don't worry too much about it, but don't test its limits, just to say safe

Most importantly: Smile! You got away with it today :-)

Chilling at the bookstore. It's rainy outside, I'm having my coffee and chatting with a nice slew of customers. I find that if you have a customer in the middle of a downpour, they must be really into their books (walk ins are easy to spot) and have nice conversation to offer.

So, I hear there are one or two people here who enjoy Stephen Universe...

I've recently started watching the show, and I'm only a couple episodes in, but I'm... not hooked, yet. It's not bad, by any stretch, but I'm not feeling that "this show is amazing" hype I'm getting from... basically everyone on Twitter.

But I want to give it a fair shake... so, for those who have watched (and enjoy) the show: while avoiding spoilers, how deep into this show do I need to get for it to really hit home? What's a good line for "if you're not enjoying the show by this point, it's probably not for you"?
While no one overhear you quickly tell me not cow cow.
but how about watch phone?

I was charmed by "Together Breakfast," "Bubble Buddies" was great, and I guess I'd say "Giant Woman" is where it really starts to take off? Like, you don't get into serious plot until the end of season one, but there are great emotional episodes before then. "Island Adventure" and most of the ones after that are all fantastic, and "Alone Together" is almost definitely the best one of season one. How many have you seen so far?
