Re: Venting Thread Gamma
I'm sure this will cause outcry, but I just have to vent:
I cannot begin to describe how much I fucking hate My Little Pony. I despised it when I was five, I don't like it now. I couldn't tell you why, I couldn't pinpoint any particular factor, but I really, really cannot stand it. Eveything about teh entire franchise has always made my skin prickle like it is begging to be torn from my body, just as a distraction from the hideous things. I don't know what it is, but they have always and will always fill me with disgust. "Firey, burning passion" does not begin to describe it.

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.
Would that begin to describe it Mimm?

Re: Venting Thread Gamma
As you may know I have not had the easiest time of it over the last couple months.
At the first group meeting my supervisor talked about how we were not working hard enough. It felt like it was directed at me. Admittedly I have not been working hard enough and I taking too much time off but this was not quite the message I need when I am trying to get my mental health back on track.

The world will not end in the current turn of affairs. This is not worse than the Great Depression, not worse than either World War, and certainly not worse than the Troubles. A bit of civil unrest, a spot of economic crisis, all things are temporary and civilisation is far sturdier than that.

Hugs. I know how rough that is, and I didn't have anything else going on in my life and was just generally feeling lost because I hadn't gotten any results yet and had about 3 months to do it.
I'm always around to talk if you need it

Re: Venting Thread Gamma
Hey; it's STILL only six minutes to midnight on the Doomsday Clock. It's been this close or closer for 24 of the 64 years that the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists have been monitoring world events and judging how close we are to ending ourselves.
I grew up with the damn thing always less than ten minutes from oblivion - and the whole culture had this underlying current that we might just wipe ourselves out of existence at any moment.
Life is tenuous; organized life doubly so. If it all goes pear-shaped,....well, what are you gonna do? *shrug* Collapse of civilisation and modern society - and having to live in such a state of overall decay - would probably be worse than just randomly getting into a lethal accident. But hey, we don't get dealt the whole deck of cards, just our hand - there's still plenty of stuff out of our control that DOES affect our lives all the time.
Sorry if I sound kinda numb and well, the anthesis of 'empathic' about this unease, but... *sigh*
Maybe it's just the fact that I'm really tired right now?
Anywaysers, if it all DOES go into the crapper, and I still have about twenty thousand dollars owing in credit card debt:
Ha-ha I WIN!
...and in a way, every generation's own little world DOES go down in flames, every time.
Then GET OFF MY FUCKING LAWN, so you can't hear my bitching!
But in short:
- it happens? Just gotta adapt and deal with it; that trait got us to the top of the food chain.
- it doesn't happen? It's business as usual, so no worry.
- can you do anything to STOP it from happening? An almost completely certain "No", so why worry about whether it will or not?

[quote="empath"]All of that post./quote]
You summed up my thoughts on it perfectly.
I'm an overweight 19 year old with a sleeping dissorder who is lucky to get up before 4pm most days... What the hell can i do to stop the aporkalypse seeing as though there is a new one every week nowdays... What's that? Nothing? Kool, stop whinging at me about it. It's a god damned hoax, and if you think it's real, go get a gun and hunt down the devil or something, i don't care about it, i don't care to hear about it, and even if it does happen and i am watching it happen, if i can't stop or affect it in anyway, chances are i'm just gunna grab my ipod and listen to as much music as i can while having a few last smokes and drinks before it's all over.

Where do you think the word comes from? Every so often, something so batshit insane happens that a new word is needed. And at one point, Prague was where it was at.

Well, I think that post was partially provoked by exhaustion and may have come across as more of anomieic or acedic than intended; see my subsequent introspection on all this over in the UK riots thread...
Anyways, on to a new vent:
I tend to use people's avatars to create a quick visual means of identifying a person and thus identify their posts.
...so when multiple switch to the same damn avatar it confuses me and PISSES ME OFF.

thirded, fourthed? Who knows but i agree!
(Personally this is INCREDIBLY irritating when trying to use a buy/sell aussie forum and 90% of the people there have the same pic, and you wind up agreeing to sell your stuff to the guy who just last week screwed you out of $50.)

You know what the opposite of a fantastic feeling is? The feeling when a big ol' cardboard cut on the pad of one of your middle fingers keeps opening when you happen to flex that finger very slightly.

Almost. On two separate occasions and angry mob stormed a building containing what they viewed as their oppressors, and started throwing everyone they could get their hands on out the windows.
