My sideburns even refuse to grow at the same length/rate.

Dude, tell me about it. It's alright for me, though, because I can actually pull off the Venser look fairly well.War Monkey782 wrote:I can't grow a full beard. I can get the side burns and goatee but they refuse to be friends and connect.

I can now grow a mild stubble/fluff beard and tash. It's not great, but it looks less like mildew when I grow facial hair now. Every shave I get better at growing an beard.
Also, I want sideburns. But those won't grow.

Why am I so angry all the time? It's so tiring.
Re: Venting Thread Gamma
went to the interview at 8:25 and just walked in (as I'm supposed to, not the usual, wait til they call you in stuff). And he says its good I'm here early, he has a meeting in five minutes and wanted to talk real quick. Explained the STEP program, what he expects outta people and what not and told me he would call me about 1030/11 to come back and talk more. Its only a 5 minute drive, no biggie.
Well 11o clock I get a call and he asks when I'm off next week and to call him MONDAY to tell him and so we can talk more.
Now the worst part, is HE doesnt know this yet but because I was on academic probation this semester (GPA dropped below 2.0) I cant work the step program until Its 2.0 or more. They asked me what it was and I told them I don't know as Idk an exact number. I am thinking it would be best to do the usual interview explain all I know and my experience and THEN let them find out, and I can meanwhile get it up this semester over 2.0 and start next January.
Or should I just come out and tell them?
on the whole facial hair thing I REALLY want a soul patch and some surrounding hair but it never grows there. EVERYWHERE else, but there.
OH OH, just found this

SO! I bought a nice microphone off of Amazon.com. As it turns out the bastards that made the thing have neglected to provide the necessary drivers for it to run on Windows 7. Actually, they don't have any drivers for Windows 7 making this thing a very nice paperweight. UPS should be around to take it back, but shit come on microphone maker people.

Seriously guys?
I understand the comfy lounge in the math building is, well, comfy.
But you aren't allowed to SLEEP HERE.
Aside from being gross, and rude (since this is a hang out spot, not a study location, also they take up a full couch most of the time), it's stupid and illegal.
I walk in this morning to derp on the internet while I wait for my second bus, and I see 5 people passed out on our couches.
And this is a systemic problem. I walk in during the MIDDLE OF CLASSES and there are people lying down, using a whole couch just for their selves, sleeping, generally with their smelly feet hovering over another spot, making that untouchable.
Argh we really need to install that foghorn button.

Re: Venting Thread Gamma
Well last night I had an interesting time. I learned a little bit about myself and a few rules for the future.
My night started out lovely. A new friend at school was having a small birthday celebration at a New York bar. I had a lovely time, people I liked, an amount of alcohol was consumed that was decently proportioned. Enough to let us enjoy ourselves without turning anyone in to a prick. We were all at an appropriate level of drunk. Which is a nice way to spend a few hours. I even got to talk to a pretty and interesting girl. How nice.
However, after that I decided to check out a second school party in Brooklyn. This was a larger party that had started a couple of hours ago. It was a rock star party, I put on my nice suit and John Lennon glasses and went as the man himself. First mistake... never wear a nice suit to a student party. Especially one that's going on till 4AM in Brooklyn. I really should have known better.
I was at the party for five minutes before I realized I wanted to leave. These people were all about 7 circles of hell drunker than I was. As such I couldn't talk to anyone without being able to count the IQ points they had left on one hand. All I needed was an excuse to leave. Be careful what you wish for is all I can say.
A classmate of mine who was the proverbial drunkest girl at the party hurled on the dance floor. Quite spectacular. Two people who were sober enough and one who thought she was sober enough helped her outside. Myself being the soberest person at the party turned up in a minute or so. I was very surprised to find myself suddenly giving instructions and being calm and authoritative. I found someone to call a taxi, let the party host know what was going on. I found some people who lived in her student building to make sure she got back inside ok. They have a rule in her building where non-residents (like myself) can't get in after 10PM, so I found the soberest person I could to walk her in. I even offered to let her stay at my place if getting her back in to dorms was too tricky. I only have one bed at my place so that would have meant me spending the night on the floor. It didn't come to that, but I offered everything to help her out as she was in a really bad way. Barely comprehensible, difficulty standing, still hurling, the works. At least at my building she wouldn't have had to act sober to get past security, they're really strict at dorms here.
Anyway, all the while I was re-assuring her, keeping things organized, being tough, confident and competent, making sure people were getting her water. I really surprised myself.
The taxi arrived, I was glad because I thought it was about time I left too. Then sober(ish) William who was going to escort this girl back in to her building has been latched on to by the second most drunk girl at the party who was crying and getting hysterical. So she has to get back to dorms too now, and there's only room for three in the taxi. So I valiantly stay behind at this party which is claiming my sanity one drunk person at a time.
Anyway, I stay a bit longer, I get word that they got to dorms safely. I head to the doorway, and before I know it, I've been asked to escort another girl home. She wanted to leave and couldn't get a cab, riding the Subway alone is dangerous at 2AM, especially if you're a girl, so I offer to go with her as I need to go anyway. Just more selflessness on my part.
We get to the Subway, trains are taking a while. A few other people show up from the party, to go home too. That's good, one of them can accompany her to 6th avenue where she can get a cab. Great. Then as I'm sitting down on the train, the motion gets the better of the alcohol in the stomach of the girl I've ended up sitting next to (another girl). And she throws up on her shoes, my shoes, and in her handbag. Authoritative me kicks in again, I take her handbag, give her something to tie her hair back with in case she hurls again. And I reassure her that all will be well. I make sure there's someone to take care of her when I get to my stop and, again, I find the soberest person in the group (not easy) and stress to him the importance of getting everyone safely back in to dorms. Then I leave and take the late late train home. I get home late and sleep for thirteen hours. I needed it.
So, what have I learned today?
- Don't wear a nice suit to a student party.
- Don't go to a student party after midnight
- Don't go to student parties that specifically advertise themselves as being boozy as hell
- If you've had a nice evening, don't go somewhere else afterward expecting it to get better
- In a drunken emergency, I'm apparently the right person to have around
- Don't ride the subway next to someone whose had enough beer and liquor to kill Josh Homme
- Stick to your principles in times of hardship
So my vent for today is: Jesus fucking Keanu Reeves, people, know how much alcohol is takes to get you drunk! Beer is fun. So is whiskey and vodka. But don't be an idiot and just try and cram as much of in to your stomach as will fit. When you're throwing up you don't look good to anyone. (Well apparently some people on the internet like it, but that's another story)
That concludes this after-school special.

Re: Venting Thread Gamma
Finally got a chance to sit down and record another segment in my first Let's Play, and I recently 'earned' the ability to upload vids of longer than 15min to YouTube.
So now I could get a fairly big session going - with the plan to split it up later into palatable chunks - so I could just relax and not always worry and watch the clock and limit myself.
So I got through a big threshold and left the game's first act and, after playing long enough to give the viewer a feel for what Act II is going to be like, I clued up and finished recording...
...and then CamStudio spat up a dialog "Cannot open video file." and shut down without going into processing anything that it had supposedly been recording for the past half-hour.
...and in the process, because of the landmark progress, I'd saved over the previous savegame, so now I can't go back and re-record anything.
>DIRTYWORD<
Oh well, nobody was watching it anyway; might as well be a failure and quitter in THAT, just like every fucking other thing in my life.

Car battery is dead.
Jump failed.
fuuuuuuck.
Plus side: I've got covered towing through my insurance and I can get an oil change while it's in the shop.
Down side: have to maneuver around work and this will probably cost me an arm and a leg. And I don't have a car for a couple of days. Good thing I went to the store last weekend.

Last night, I came face-to-face with possibly the first "friend" to say something directly homophobic to my face in a tone that suggested that he expected that I agreed with him. I was also mildly appalled because I've never heard that particular brand of idiocy anywhere but the internet. Unfortunately I was a little drunk, so my counter-argument was a sort of weak, "Don't say that shit, you're an asshole, stop saying that word". And then I felt bad because I know I can mount a better argument than that.

People seem out to get me today... I feel like I've been walking round with bulls-eye on my face.
And nothing makes me want to hit someone more than feeling like a victim.
So if I'm a little cranky, it's cause today I've been annoyed, put-upon and am ready to commit violence.

I thought Samgsung had lost my monitor. But no; the people they contract for repairs in Ontario are just morons. They never acknowledge receiving my monitor, never updated the repair tracker thing, and as of this morning, cancelled the repair ticket. I called Samsung to ask WTF(only more politely). Turns out they had got the monitor just fine, repaired it and shipped it out either on Friday or this morning. No clue why they cancelled the ticket, but annoyingly it means I won't get a tracking number.
On the bright side, it was a quick call, the lady was very fluent in English and her accent was understandable. Damn she talked fast, though. People say I talk fast; this lady would make me sound like an Elcor.

Yeah, my leg has entered that awkward point where it consistently hurts when I use it for things like walking or standing, but not the point where it doesn't seem like it could go away overnight, only it's been 4 nights now and it still hurts.Plus to make it hurt less I walk on it funny which has caused my calf to start hurting. I kind of feel like I should get it checked out but will feel stupid when the Doctor says "It's fine, now I need to treat the students who really hurt themselves last weekend!"
Also the microwave has stopped working and I wanted scrambled eggs this lunch.
