The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
Hey! As you all know, Graham and I are going to be in England! We'd like to do a meetup in London. Looks like August 12 is the day we're free to do it. We're flexible on the time and the place. In fact, it would be better if you guys picked a place, as me and Graham don't know anything about London.
So... I'm just going to leave this right here. Right here.
(Someone on Twitter mention Leicester Square because there's a 2 storey video arcade with a cafe in it?)

I fully expect all Londoners to come to this meetup in top hats and monocles. I will be severely disappointed otherwise.
Oh and please someone be sure to video it, and take lots of photos.
AND TOP HATS.

Bowler hats will be accepted, but be aware that they mark you as incurably middle class.

Is the 12th pretty much a certainty? I'm going to have to see if I can get it off work.

Holy balls, I'm gonna come to this. I.. may have to let everyone down, though; I don't have a top hat. However! I do have a monocle! So maybe it balances out?

Damnit you lucky englishmen!
Us aussies are stuck down here... waiting...
Though to be fair, i can't see any reason someone would willingly come to australia outside of work or love.

Sir! Please do not insult me with suggestions of inferior head-wear. A gentleman would not be seen dead with such a plastic monstrosity upon his bonce.
Also, my head is a bit fatter than average, so I'd have to buy a hat to measure instead of borrowing someone's and I don't have any the money to spare for such an extravagance. ;P

Gods be damned! I'm at Edinburgh Fringe then doing a show
Are you by any chance hitting up the Fringe Festival while you're over?

London's quite, um, in the far corner for an England visit. Any chance coming to leister? I think that's more centric. If I'm wrong Birmingham is a safe bet. Though why would you want to go there is beyond me. Inless you admire motor-arcitecture (cough spagetti junction).

If they wanted to be really central, then I would suggest Birmingham (and no it's not because I live there, shut up, SHUT UP!).
Anyway, if you insist on being in London, then I might be able to make it down- I have nothing better to do that week.
Re: The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
It's just like all of you to not be there the one time they're in your country. You limey bastards need to shape up and learn how to not have plans.

all we need is for someone to blow up another icelandic volcano and then they'll be stuck here until such time that we don't have any more plans
Re: The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
Because I know it fairly well, I'd suggest Kensington, for access to the museums, the Albert Hall (film music proms anyone?), Hyde Park and my cheap student union bar (serving half decent food and booze for quite reasonable prices)!
Its also in zone 1 with easy access from most national rail stations.
That being said, if everyone who attends the meet up buys oyster cards or day travel passes, it wouldn't be impossible to hop around different parts of London and see various other sights. (e.g. from what I remember, there is a MTG/Hobby store in the vicinity of Waterloo Station, not that I've ever got round to visiting it...)
The issue with anywhere in London at the moment, however, is its school summer holidays, so pretty much everywhere is going to be packed with tourists and school kids wandering around with their families.
Which reminds me, G&K, if you're going to be spending any significant amount of time moving around London, I highly recommend picking up Oyster Cards for use on the underground and buses in and around London. Much cheaper than buying individual tickets, much more convenient, and at the end of your stay, you can return them to an underground ticket office to get your £5 deposits back, so they effectively cost nothing. Definitely well worth getting as soon as you arrive in London.

tell me about it. borough market gets packed on fridays and weekends. which is annoying because it places an unnecessary obstacle between me and my food.

Here, a place called Dark Sphere. I looked it up when I got the first DotP with the plan of going and getting my limited edition card, but never found the time to visit. Also, I haven't really got the money or the people to get back into it at the moment, but that's a different matter entirely.

It will cost me about £100 to be there, give or take as times are finalised, but I can make it.

Gonna be in town for a Dir En Grey gig in Camden so as an excuse for a day out beforehand this works out pretty well for me.
