I just looked at google maps for parks in London. There are hundreds.
The most unique, nicest, and confusing individual you will get to know. Don't be stupid around me, that's my job.

the famous ones are hyde park and st james park. A group of LRRunners shouldn't look too out of place there. Green Park underground station is right outside hyde park and is two stops from waterloo on jubilee line (again if that's where people will be coming to).

Right, my tickets booked. I should be arriving at Kings Cross around 1 PM and my return ride is at 8 PM from there, plenty of time for fun and shenaniganry I think.

Wow. Guys. Well done. The prank worked. Lyinginbedmon bought his ticket! I didn;t think we could pull it off!
Sucked in lyinginbedmon, you got punked!

Re: The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
Coach booked, I'll be at Victoria around 11am and also leaving around 8.
Hyde Park is pretty great for hanging around in, pretty much smack in the middle of the city and like Lying said, the place is HUUUUUUUUGE. As for looking weird, I saw a guy jogging through there just wearing speedos once.
I'll most likely have a LRR shirt on, corny though it may seem.

Hyde Park is big, but there's lots of landmarks. But if you don't want to look like loonies, go to Camden. It's a Friday, so it shouldn't be too busy. And there's the canal you can chill out beside. Though there may still be Amy Winehouse mourners clogging up the streets, because no one does over-the-top grief like the British...

Guys, it's all right. We can all give up the act. We got him. Let's not take this prank too far.
I'm kind of a big deal.

That is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Re: The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
So, when Kathleen made this thread she thought the 12th was the Saturday (the plan was to make the day more accessible).
BUT! Since people have planned (and bought tickets) for the 12th, then THE 12TH IT SHALL BE!
We'll be available after 5. Sorry, as part of the confusion, we have pre-booked tickets to Buck House for the afternoon.
But we'll hang out aaaaalll evening!

Hyde Park would be good because there's a My Old Dutch right next to one bit of it! Sorry, I am hung up about this restaurant, I'll go at lunchtime or something, so I'm not bugging people about it, unless people want to go there of course.
Also, you know what's good about Hyde Park? Buckingham Palace is right next to it! That's a massive thing to see if you're a tourist, and yes it will be crowded, but if we're showing G+K bits of London, then seeing as we're in the right area, then I think that might be a good idea. Just need to wade through the hordes of Japanese tourists.

Ooooohhh kaaaaay, I think I'll see if I can change my return journey to the Saturday morning.. because seriously, having to catch a train home at ten past seven would not give me enough time to hang out that Friday evening.

I'm not too sure, myself really. Being from Birmingham, we don't get all that many!
Re: The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
+1 for Hyde Park. Or its little sister, Green Park, which is right next to Buckingham Palace. I work about 15 mins walk from there.
Re: The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
If you're hanging out for a long time I might try to make it down after work. But it's a 90 minute journey by train and I don't finish until 5:30

Re: The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
I imagine people'd still be about at seven. Maybe keep an eye on the tweets people are making during your shift (if you can) and head out if it seems like the meetup's lasting.
For my own part, I was able to change the ticket with minimal fuss. Because I'd looked at times and prices before I went to the station I knew exactly which ticket I was after, and because they were the same price all I needed to do was pay an extra £10 for the switch. And, as luck would have it, I won £10 the other day on the Lottery and so I'm no more out of pocket than I was last night when I'd booked the tickets.

Re: The Official Kathleen and Graham will be in England Thread
Huzzah! One of my coworkers cancelled his leave for next week, so I can come. Although I give fair warning, I shall make no attempt to avoid looking like a loony.
*sigh*
I would shout at you, but now my dad and my brother have arranged their joint birthday meal for the Saturday this is actually a lot more convenient. And I can stay fairly late.
When looking for landmarks around the Hyde Park area, may I humbly suggest we pick a decent-sized pub/cafe/venue of some sort where we can shelter if it's pissing down. We don't want to have our fair-weather and foul-weather alternatives too far apart in case the weather's changeable and people spend half the evening walking between them trying to find each other.

There's plenty of shelter around the area, I think we'd probably end up gravitating towards the sheltered or non-sheltered areas where appropriate anyway, prior scheming or otherwise.

Imperial College is nearby, and since I'm a student there we should have access to their bar, which remains open over the summer and won't be filled with tourists. Depending where in Hyde Park we end up, its not that far to walk and is in spitting distance of the Albert Hall, in walking distance of South Kensington, High Street Kensington and Gloucester Road tube stations and really good bus links. Also museums and Kensington High Street which has loads of shops and eateries of all varieties.
