'Cash' or 'Kayche'
Right now i'm sitting in a bar with a pair of fellow comp-sci students, naturally we've bottlenecked into annother nerd argument (neurgment..? whatever). Anyway one side of the table says a computers cache memory is pronounced cash, the other kayche!
So how do you pronounce it, and how is it actually pronounced (if anyone cares lol).

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
As far as I know etymologically it's 'cash', and that's how I've always heard it said.

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
I always pronounce it as that 'money' synonym starting with a 'c', and so do the authorities
I hope you're on the 'kash' side, and some cash is at stake.

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
Considering that reference.com, webster, the OED and Wiktionary all think it's cash, I'd say it's probably cash. Some of those links have sound files, too, so you can hear it pronounced.
Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
Cash.
But I do know someone who calls it "Cash-ay". Rhyming it with 'sachet', which is just... weird.

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
It's "cash." As in "an ammo cache."

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
Perhaps people are conflating cache (cash) with cachet (ca-shay).
Definitely not kayche (I am assuming you mean this to be pronounced kay-sh).
This reminds me of one of my lecturers who would consistently use and mispronounce 'germane'.

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
Nothing in the English language is, to the best of my knowledge, pronounced "kayche". The correct way to say it is "cash".
