Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
If you want, I can poll all my professors, but thus far every single one of them I've talked to about caches pronounces it "cash". I've never heard anyone pronounce it any other way, even my OS professor who seems to think "P"s are pronounced like "F"s.

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
Definitely cash. Although I recall hearing it pronounced "catch", but the speaker was a child who hadn't heard the word before, so I guess it's slightly excusable.

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
"kash", definitely.
One of my coworkers kinda does the reverse -- he pronounces "ph" like just "p." So I've been hearing "hypen" a lot. Granted, English isn't his first language, so it's a reasonable mistake.

I always thought that cache had the accent over the e so it became Ca-shay. Then I heard everyone else say it and realised I was wrong. Never heard of Kayche before.

I once had a programming instructor that pronounced "zone" as something like "tsong." Considering I joined the class during the second week, it made catching up a bit... difficult.

My last manager at work pronounced it kayce - he was from australia so I don't know if that's anything to do with it. I will always pronounce it cash though.

I've always heard it cash, so that's how I've pronounced it.
What are you looking at.
Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
Well I asked twitter, and most of the replies I got were for kay-shh but most of my followers are in the Dunedin IT scene. Im thinking it may be a just an idiosyncrasy of our language out here in the colonies. Though we have be vastly out numbered we will stand strong!

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
This is an example of the peril of having an ethnological group that becomes isolated from the main 'culture'.

As a New Zealander, I know it supposed to be "cash", but I still say it like "kaysh".

Re: 'Cash' or 'Kayche'
Similarly, Kenyans pronounce words very differently than I would.
For the sharp front teeth I say "in-sy-zors" and they say "in-see-zors" and the pointy ones to me are "cay-nines" and to them "cay-nins". I never knew how I should say it.
