My FIF is giving stormg arguments for buying a new graphics card on top of just persuading me to buy Dark Ascension and Avacyn Restored fat packs.

Oh and I still haven't payed the £400 excess from my car insurance, my FIF argues that's what credit cards are for, I need to find a way to shut it up.

Not sure if this REALLY counts at FIF because it's not for me but..
I have enough money, but I'm still debating whether or not to get my brother some Belgium ale brewed by monastery monks. It's 30 bucks, comes with 3 different types AND a goblet. This along with two gift cards, one for him to cabelas and one for his fiancee to Bed, Bath, and Beyond; both at 75.
It's for a wedding, what do you think.. I really want to but not sure if it's "too much", for such an occasion I think really hard to do.

The question is do you think they'll like them and would you like to give them to them? Things like wedding gifts, especially for a family member such as a brother, are really only limited by you.

I'd say go with one gift rather than a set though, maybe stick to the gift cards and then the Ale as a birthday/Christmas present.

My FIF likes going 'hey why don't you buy a magic booster pack? It doesn't cost THAT much.' It's less of a one big thing but little things that add upbto a big thing for me.

Do they have a registry? If they do, just get the most expensive and useful thing you can justify from the registry. Or, gift cards to where they're registered (you get sweet deals on buying stuff of your registry you didn't receive).

That being said, that does sound like a fun gift.

They don't have a registry, but he loves beer.
He also suggested the gift card to cabelas as he just got a new assault rifle and needs bullets. She loves to shop there too and suggested that as something for her, so all in all I don't see why not, it's just is it TOO much, even for a grandiose day.

Like I said, depends on what you feel and what your finances are like. My brother and I quietly agreed we were only getting each other small things for our weddings (which were months apart) because really, weddings cost a shit-ton of money.

I love giving gifts though so I can't claim to be unbiased.

Anyways, sounds pretty cool. Make sure he lets you shoot his gun.

that's how I am, and after all the shit he's put up with me (though he's put me through shit as kids) I think he should get something worthwhile. I mean, how many people can say, "I drank beer brewed by MONKS"?

Went into a games shop. Didn't want to walk out empty handed so I got an Avacyn Restored fat pack. I don't even play this game.

yeah, now I just need to work on being standard legal. Most of my stuff is back from Mirrodin block. The fat pack is a pretty nice deal, really. A few extra bucks on top of the boosters and you've got some deck boxes and a place to keep shit.

Bought a PS3, why? Because it was cheaper in sainsburys than on amazon so I picked it up,and took it to the checkout.

On the plus side I can afford it right now and I can play a load of exclusives I've been wanting to play. On the down side I have other priorities around I should have bought first and M13 is this weekend.

Those Sainsbury's PS3s have been taunting me for a while, but my FIF has a new target to nag me about. Google Nexus 7, it keeps telling me it would be handy for work...

To be honest I'm enjoying having it and if you want one I've not seen them as cheap anywhere else, it's more the disappointment in myself for making a £185 impulse buy.

Damn you, cute bartender who gave me a free Old Fashioned because I wanted to help after she told me nobody ever orders cocktails there ever. I ended up staying and dropping twenty bucks! What a clever, devious ploy.

They didn't even know the HAD rye... and it was actually rye made a few miles up the road.

I like bourbon for Manhattans, but I like the astringentness of the rye with the orange. Also, it's the only liquor made in MAryland that I know of, so why not have it?

FiF has been hitting me fairly hard lately. Two pre-releases last weekened, FNM draft Friday, Sealed Saturday, and then Sealed AND Draft with friends using my booster box equals a lot of Magic and money put into Magic.

So... last week I got soundtracks to FF12, 13 and 13-2 from ebay for a total of about £75 (inc postage), I got Batgirl and two Iron Man graphic novels for a total of £55, paid £42 for a theatre ticket to see Matilda and spent £10 on DLC for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, not to mention £23 on the game itself.

My FIF is satisfied.

I went to Games Britannia, a small gaming expo near Sheffield, at the weekend. It's been a week of things mostly aimed at school kids to get them interested in programming etc. but the weekend was open to the public.

Because of the educational theme, I wasn't expecting there to be much stuff to buy.

I ended up spending £40 on games and shirt. Including a PSP game. I don't own a PSP yet D:
