My FIF has been on me to buy a pinball machine all summer long. I don't think he realizes the technical knowledge required to repair & restore these things. And yet, here I am, about to leave on lunch break to check out a garage sale I learned about on Craigslist that says they have a "classic pinball machine." They don't even list the name.

My FIF almost has me convinced to get a MacBook Pro, because it's simplier, if more expensive. Note, if I get the MacBook, I'll run Win 7 in bootcamp almost all the time, except when I'm doing dev work.

GO AWAY FIF. I DON'T WANT TO SPEND OVER $1000 FOR A SINGLE COMPUTER, NO MATTER HOW CONVENIENT IT IS FOR ME.

This may be common knowledge, but just in case: Apple's online store often has better deals on refurbished Macs. That's where I bought my current laptop, for example, and I saved a few hundred dollars by buying a refurbished one.

Look for "refurbished" on the Apple online store home page. The link often is in small text near the bottom left corner.

FIF's dirtiest trick is to remind you how much money you'll save if you buy things on sale.

I don't even own any Blu-Ray movies... That being said, that's how I started my DvD collection.
