My FIF made me dig myself even deeper into debt by paying for takeout via credit card instead of preparing and eating some of the bounty of foodstuffs we already have in the pantry, fridge & freezer.

My FIF insists that breakfast is not necessary until I would need to actually pay for it.

My FIF is making me think about buying a new keyboard, and I really want to!

My FIF is tempting me to buy about 10 gig tickets when I get paid next week. Must, ignore, him...

The FIF is telling me to buy a Intel Core i5 2500K (plus motherboard) when I think a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (plus motherboard) ought to be enough.

My FIF has been highly successful as of late since I have a new job starting very soon. If I wasn't soon to be employed I'd be in deep trouble.

My FIF keeps suggesting I go get Deus Ex: Human Revolution NOW, instead of waiting for the GOTY like I normally do {because a) any patches or fixes needed will be implemented by then, 2) any DLC usually is included, iii) it's often cheaper, IV) I've got plenty of unfinished games already, & E) I'm in pretty tight financial straits right now}

My FIF is pretty quiet at the moment. Maybe because there's nothing I want to buy right now. This may change without notice.

What empath said. I hardly ever buy games new, I have a whole ton of games I bought recently that I'm just starting to work my way through, and STILL my FIF keeps bugging me to buy Human Revolution.

FIF and alcoholism are synonymous apparently. Speaking of which thursday night drinks means yay and 50+ dollars gone on cider.

My FIF is just sitting in the corner singing:
"portal 2, portal 2
Everyoen's played it but you
You've got your loan coming through
Blow it all on Portal 2!"

Dammit.

My FIF makes me buy books... lots and lots of books. Also at the moment it's trying to get me to get another tattoo. But I need that money for uni and a new computer. Must resist...

Hey look I haven't read this book yet

Your FIF obviously knows that Portal 2 is available right now on steam for the low low price of £19.99.

And it is absolutely correct of course :D

I don't have steam, it would kill my laptop. Even if I did, £19.99 is the better part of a week's food shopping. Unless I can get it on xbox for £15 or less, no deal.

Dammit.

I have Portal 2 but my PS3 is bricked. My FIF is telling me to get it fixed, pretty much specifically so I can play this.

My FIF has been on me to buy a pinball machine all summer long. I don't think he realizes the technical knowledge required to repair & restore these things. And yet, here I am, about to leave on lunch break to check out a garage sale I learned about on Craigslist that says they have a "classic pinball machine." They don't even list the name.

psychopez wrote:My FIF almost has me convinced to get a MacBook Pro, because it's simplier, if more expensive. Note, if I get the MacBook, I'll run Win 7 in bootcamp almost all the time, except when I'm doing dev work.

GO AWAY FIF. I DON'T WANT TO SPEND OVER $1000 FOR A SINGLE COMPUTER, NO MATTER HOW CONVENIENT IT IS FOR ME.

This may be common knowledge, but just in case: Apple's online store often has better deals on refurbished Macs. That's where I bought my current laptop, for example, and I saved a few hundred dollars by buying a refurbished one.

Look for "refurbished" on the Apple online store home page. The link often is in small text near the bottom left corner.

FIF's dirtiest trick is to remind you how much money you'll save if you buy things on sale.

Mine had me buy a Blu-Ray drive for my PC.

I don't even own any Blu-Ray movies... That being said, that's how I started my DvD collection.
