I'd even buy an iPad (despite rather having an android machine in general...I'm google's bitch, not apple's) if I could switch between e-ink for reading and long ass life to normal display for games and video and such.

Yeah I realised that about 5 minutes after I posted. Okay. It has a long battery life, it's not backlit so it's easier on the eyes, and it cost me £90. I find reading stuff on a phone or computer screen does my eyes in after a while.

Wraith: the kindle is actually a pretty good device for the cost, but the e-ink has a weird ghosting thing that it does when the page changes. The previously activated pixels don't change all the way back, so you've still got a ghost of the previous page there. As complaints go, it's not much, but it's still noticeable. Also, the Kindle (touch) is the device we take about the most returns on, but I think that's more due to unreasonable or unrealistic expectations than anything else.

Metcarfre: what's wrong with having quick coffee when I want it, and really good coffee when I have the time to grind beans and wash a french press carafe? (except the fact that the painstaking coffee costs about $25 in equipment and the quick coffee costs about $99 in equipment, minimum)

Not really, I just really dislike the taste of most overly prepackaged and cheap coffee. I'm a super, super snob when it comes to coffee (I find vacuum pot the best), but to each their own.

Also; someone told me they're coming out with higher-resomolution, colour e-ink soon? Is that true?

I've considered getting a vacuum pot. They're really freaking cool.

I've been hearing for a few years about the possibility of color e-ink. I haven't seen any evidence of it coming yet; at least not in a consumer device.

Color e-ink is one of those techs that have been "one year out" for about 5 years now. Don't hold your breath for that tech to be commercially available in the next 5 years
