I know! A lot of teh comments on that site badmouth teh fact that people haven't sung it as if they're actually muppets. I say to these people: "Grow up, and understand what "tribute" means."

The Alkaline Trio singing Moving Right Along is brilliant. I have so much love in my heart for the whole album.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole thing yet, but I'll try and make the time tonight. I don't think I have any choice than to buy it the day it comes out. Hang on, is that a man in pink and fairy wings over there...

Buying this album could not be considered fiscal irresponsibility. It's being very, very responsible.

Rainbow Connection by Weezer and Hayley Williams?

I don't ... what ...

*listens to it*

...

What.

EDIT: It's so oddly ... dark. And scary, with their tones.

inorite? I loved it, but it did really make me want to listen to the original. Actually that was the case for most of them, making me want to listen to the originals, but it's still an awesome cd.

Yeah, rainbow connection is goddamn maudlin in that version. And I wasn't a fan of Amy whatserface singing half-way up the stairs, but I liked pretty much every other song.

Ugh, utter butchery, I'm afraid. I'll take the originals, please.

I've listened to the album a few times on the way to work, and I'm slowly falling in love with it. Andrew Birds' cover of Bein' Green is beautiful, and Alkaline Trio's Movin' Right Along is a great take on the original. Sure there's some duds (Mahna Mahna by The Fray? Really?), but the standout songs make it worthwhile.

Though I can't help but cringe whenever I hear OK Go mess up the first lyric of the Muppet Show Theme Song.

The Nightmare Revisited album Disney released was quite good, but I'm not taken by this one.

The Fray doing "Mahna Mahna"?

Rainbow Connection by Wheezer and The girl from Paramore? I like it a lot.

Also, Amy whatsherface is Amy Lee from Evanescence.

Oh wow! These are amazing. No they aren't original, but they do make me want to go find the originals, especially Rainbow Connection. I like them. And of course, I am still singing along as if they were the muppets singing them.

Now I need to go spend hours on youtube listening to/watching muppets.

I've only heard the Muppets theme song from that album, and I don't like it. The song's supposed to be fun and jaunty, and energetic. OK Go have just made it depressing. Not a fan.

Finally listened to the whole thing and the only one I didn't like was Amy Lee's. The rest were all good to brilliant, with Andrew Bird being the biggest highlight. I so need to buy this.

Incidentally this has made me go and listen to Tom Smith's A Boy and His Frog, not a muppet song but rather a tribute about the late Jim Henson.

I am now bawling my eyes out.

Youtube video for A Boy And His Frog, and a warning of possible effects if you were raised on that show:

I feel sorry for the kids that don't get to grow up with the Muppets, I really do. I've been meaning to sit down and watch the DVDs with my nephews, I should get on that.

Fun story, I actually watched The Muppets movie for the first time with my five-year-old niece about a month back. And now that song is stuck in my head.

I finally got this album. Listening to it now. Thoughts as I go.
Wishing Song - The Airborne Toxic Event. Pretty good. Nice take on the originally.
Movin' Right Along - Alkaline Trio. Too fast. Also they added the cute little convo that Kermit and Fozzie have though the song... but they don't quite pull it off.
Halfway Down the Stairs - Amy Lee. It sounds like a Christmas carol but that's prob from the opera training she's had.Its not bad... but its not good either. just Meh really.
Bein' Green - Andrew Bird. This song has been covered so many times. Actually a little over it because I've heard it so much.
Night Life - Brandon Saller of Atreyu and Billy Martin. Actually had to stop this one and listen to the original. I actually think this is what The Electric Mayhem would sound like today.
Mahna Mahna - The Fly. This one is good. But the mahna mahna is kinga hard to stuff up.
T Hope That Something Better Comes Along - Matt Nathanson. Well he kept the convo out of it so that's a start. This seems a lot more like a love song the original.
Our World - My Morning Jacket. Another I need to stop and find the original. I like this version better.
Muppet Show Theme Song - OK Go. Good cover.
I'm Going to go Back There Some Day - Rachael Yamagata. Good cover.
Mr. Bassman - Sondre Lerche. The Muppets actually coved this one them selves. While this version is good I still like the very original better.
Rainbow Connection - Weezer and Hayley Williams. Oh that reminds me I should get some Weezer songs. Good cover.

And that what I think.
