LRR on Wikipedia

Postby Fumbles » 01 Jun 2006, 03:35

Someone suggest for this to happen so i gave it a shot. I started out wanting to make it all official and good but i got tired and the quality isn't that great (it sucks) but it's a start. Feel free to edit it at your own will. Plus i'm too lazy to do it all so someone bettter help. I'll add a comics section some other time (cbf doing it at the moment)

I'd like some help from you guys *points at crew*. Give me info. Any info. Like what corse is graham doing at uni.

Appologies to anyone who i have missed out or have offended.

yeah I think the wiki gods did. Casue when I saw it there was a big banner saying that it would be scheduled for deletion unless someone could prove why it shouldnt.

Yeah if you look at the page detailing why pages are subject to 'speedy deletion' there are many points on which the page you created might have gone awry. Especially the "provide a reason why this should exist." I know 'Sam and Fuzzy' (a Martlet comic/webcomic) has its own Wikipedia entry, and on it is some information as to how it is important/successful. Now LRR has created some videos which have attracted a bit of attention (as I understand it) so maybe the next attempt at an entry should mention some of the more popular videos and the number of people who have seen them... or something. Really though, I don't know what you put in the first attempt, so I'm not in the position to make meaningful suggestions.

Mention the awards they've won for certain videos maybe?

I think LLR is in the grey area of what gets into wikipedia.

While LLR has had press (Monday Magazine) won some awards (Vancouver Island short film something ?) and has some of its content published else where (the Martlet) these may not quite be seen to be notable enough for enclusion.

Sam and Fuzzy does have a wikipedia article. However it also has (roughly) a hundred times as many as LLR entries when you goolge it (40 000 vs 700) and a much higher alexa rating (~140 000 vs ~2 000 000)

Do still have what you posted Fumbles?

Nobody calls it LRR if they aren't 'one of us'

I'd imagine it would be hard for someone to find anything on the internet if they weren't looking for it.

But it is true what was said about Sam and Fuzzy having higher Alexa rating and whatnot. Maybe LRR just has to grow more before the WikiGods admit it into their realm? I doubt it. The page just needs to be properly done, is all.

(And I won't be the one to do it!)

On a tangent, has anyone ever seen the original "Freaks!" movie?

Guys, what is and isn't allowed on the wikipedia is pretty undefined. The juggernaut video had it's own entry for ages and kept getting voted to stay. (might still be there, I am afraid to check.) What I am trying to say is LRR is relevent for the wikipedia if we all say it is, and several people contribute. I don't know much about LRR, but I would be willing to work on the article.

Also this may seem silly, but is the name of this deal "LoadingReadyRun" or "LoadingReadyRun.com". The wikipedia people tend to dislike when every jackass on the internet with a site thinks they need an entry. They were probably worried about the .com. So unless that is the actual name of this place it should just be "LoadingReadyRun".

Ok, I got bored and decided to start it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LoadingReadyRun

I don't know a ton about LRR but I can try to make it look official and hopefully it won't be deleted before someone can add more about it's awards and non-internet presence. WOO!

the Google search I did was for "Loading Ready Run" not "LoadingReadyRun".

If it helps with this effort, LRR is listed in Wikipedia on the April Fools 2006 page for our Uwe Bolle thing.

I added the main awards LRR videos have won. I'm not sure how it should be formatted though.

Hopefully this will be enough to give us "relevance"

Mention 1337 being watched over 100,000 times, and being on AtomFilms.
