Cinnamon for me is reminiscent/borderline-synonymous with it's buddy nutmeg in pear gruyere pie.

So my older sister asked me to make pie for her wedding which is this afternoon.

Mini Apple crumbles (made first, so we ate a lot of them)

Made right before retiring to bed.

All these I made yesterday though I did cheat by using store bought shortcuts. I currently have 61 pies. I may have to eat another one to keep the numbers even though.

I made these! Completely edible. They are the cake topper for my wedding cake.

Looking good enough to eat. So cute. Actually kind of sad at that. This is exactly what they mean when they say you can't have the cake and eat it.

Lunch today of avocado and beans on bloomer toast with vegetarian sausage and black pudding plus scrambled eggs on the side. Just the thing for nursing a hangover after a heavy night in a dress next to a big amp.

I plan on eating both the cake and the "bride" owl. Or at least a part of her head. Simply because I can.

Damnit, now I want pancakes. Nicely done Memo

Admittedly, I also sushi and chocolate cake, but those are constants in my life.

Y'all started thinking about Christmas food yet? Traditionally I'm in charge of dessert, this year I've been playing around with some variations on morello cherry baklava, 'tis delicious and unusually but undoubtedly festive.

Here in the south hemisphere it's kind of tricky. I mean we had to invent our own Christmas traditions! Since I have family from various parts of the world when they come for Christmas they usually cook something for us. My italian aunt usually makes lemon pie, for instance. I remember this one time a spanish relative brought fruit shaped marzipan.

Made a bananananananana bread, followed this recipe, except times'd everything by 1.5, then added an extra banana, an extra dash of flour, cinammon (though not enough), swapped about half the castor sugar for demerara and threw in two handfuls of raisins. Edit: Oh, and lowered and extended the cooking time, of course.

Seems most of the raisins sank to the bottom. I don't know how to stop that happening next time, it was still very nice.

Try tossing the raisins in the flour before adding them to the mix. Tends to help them stay mixed in nicely.

But make sure you throw them in with the flour and not another verb.
