Are you aware that Desert Bus community irc (not the twitch chat but the all year only irc one) has moved to a different server? It's now at irc.dbcommunity.org #desertbus (ports 6697 SSL or 6667). Come by when your other friends are failing/forgetting to be what friends should be. I'm glad Alex's streams are still helping.

Quite a lot of depressing news in the world.
But not all of it.

Of particular note is the reasoning given too.

My cat came back from the vet and he's fine; just some grass stuck in his nose the was making him bleed and sneeze uncontrollably. They got it out and now he's a much happier kitty.

Im not really sure where I can post about this so this is the place I thought of.

I have had about 5 years of nightmare of various types, I have never "gone back" to Afghanistan without explosions, or combat being a major part of that dream and it wrecking me.

I just woke up from a dream where I was in Afghanistan, working in the rigger shed preparing a humanitarian aid LCLA drop and joking about star wars. I woke up and I wasn't sweating or screaming or scared this is the first time, since before I left the country that I have dreamed about the deployment without it being a nightmare.

Bedtime conversation
Littler Lady Hosk: "Dad... why did you join the army if you were going to get hurt so bad for the rest of your life"
Me: I didnt know I would get hurt.
LLH: Well, then why did you join the army?
Me: so I cold help people who needed someone to protect them.
LLH: even if it meant you might get hurt?
Me: Yeah, because I might get hurt, but I know that many other people are getting hurt.
LLH: And its your job... its everyone's job to stop bad people from hurting other people?
Me: yeah
LLH: Even if you get hurt helping other people?
Me: Sometimes that happens.
LLH: but... why dont mean people just stop being mean?
Me: Sometimes they dont know they are being mean.
LLH: Sometimes they had a mean mommy and daddy who didnt teach them to be nice and taught them it was ok to hit?
Me: sometimes
LLH: what if... dad... what if when the army is stopping people from hurting other people... what if other people could talk to the bad people and say "hey, you are hurting those people, did you know that you dont have to hurt them? you dont have to hit them to get your way, you can just talk to them and they will listen to you." are there people who do that for the bad people?
me: Not enough.
LLH: Dad... I think when I grow up, I want to be a helper talker.
Me: I think thats a very good thing to do sweetheart.
LLH: cause if helper talkers can teach the bad people to be nice... then other daddies wont get hurt in the army... and other people wont get hurt so we wont need armies. Im gonna go to sleep... I hope you dont hurt today.
Me:Im very proud to have you as my daughter... you are super special, thank you.
LLH: Dad... stop crying, you are getting my pillow wet and I have to sleep there.
