Also a bottle of Carolans, a Terry's chocolate orange, and some nightgowns because my favorite one was falling apart. And a Hex-Bug that the cat has been enjoying for much of the day.

Wish I could have gotten more socks, but hell, I'm not gonna complain about a $100 Amazon card.

Man, more clothing lines should have punctuation mark names. I would love a comma scarf, or an exclamation point hat, or colon boxers.

I was actually really excited about my gift from JackSlack: a bunch of Disney DVDs, and a Disney villains hoodie.

My sister also got me a fairy floss/cotton candy machine which is certainly... Interesting. And a family friend gave JackSlack and I a canvas print of different pulp comic book covers, which is really cool.

I love christmas

I got
a massive bag of chocolate money
A toblerone
Towers of Midnight by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson
The History of the Wars by Procopius
The History of the Franks by Gregory of Tours (both for my accademic work next term)
England Keep My Bones and Poetry for the Deed by Frank Turner
Grace for Downing by Steven Wilson
A fleece
And, best of all, my fangamer t-shirts that my mum intercepted from the post and wrapped for me.

Good haul.

This year was a rather good haul, though unfortunately accompanied by several moments of incredible discomfort.

1x Rather nice scarf. Not sure what it's made of, but it's sliver, warm, and faintly scented with something unidentifiable but pleasant.
    1x Snuff by Terry Pratchett.
1x Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman.
    1x Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.
    1x Monster Manual 4e.
1x Large tin of Celebrations chocolates.
1x Bag of assorted cogs and gears from old clocks and watches - awesome, since I'm also having a jewellery making session in Jan to which I shall take them (their intended purpose).
1x Tin containing a rather high-quality set of playing cards. Odd, though, since I don't actually know any card games. I even cheat at patience.
1x Giant space hopper. Also rather incongruous. I don't believe I have ever desired one since ageing into double digits.
    1x Rather nice black shirt.
3x Rather nice tee shirts, one in black, one in white, and one in a light grey.
1x Bizarre little "desktop vacuum cleaner". Entirely pointless, since the fans which supposedly provide suction do not, in fact, provide suction. The hose is also woefully inflexible.
1x Cheque for £50. More than makes up for the following:
1x Very horrible Lynx deodorant and shower gel set. I cannot stress enough how disgusting these things smell, nor how insulting it was to receive from my Grandmother. The fact that I was expected to be pleased about this gift was also insulting and demeaning.

I was also treated to a demonstration of a new low in my brother's opinions-presented-as-facts statements, this time about how there are only two genders. I could have slapped him for his blunt refusal that there could possibly be more.

Finally, I also bought myself a selection of games from the Steam store, comprising the following:
    1x Broken Sword trilogy set.
    1x Prototype.
    1x Space Marine.

Jester, as youre in the UK I know that Lynx is Americas Axe. Personally, I love the smell of it. Whats wrong with it in your opinion?
For me, I got
Universal Ethernet adapter
Wifi detecting hat
40dolalr giftcard
tool set with flashlight
hand knitted hat and scarf
A 16gb media player (generic type but great USB flash drive)

And I still have yet to receive my secret santa, so I await that to add to the list

I don't mind the smell of Lynx personally, but I hate the marketing and the fact that a lot of the target audience overuse the stuff so you can smell them from a distance. Ugh.

It's the odour of choice for every douchebag on this island. I also don't like it based on it's olfactory impression, and it's pungency.

axe stick is 1000% less pungent than axe spray (which is intolerable). It also works great. I've sworn by it for years.

As I don't wear cologne per se, I've never had a reason to go looking and axe has done me well. I don't overload on it though (or didn't I haven't used it in a LONG time), I know enough to respect other peoples noses. I guess most, or the stereotype of axe, don't though.q

At least in spray form, Axe is repugnant, and manages to be the only deodorant I actually notice. Perhaps in stick form it's as non-offensive as any other deodorant, but I've never tried it myself.

I also got a Lynx set, sadly, but it did however neatly come in a very usable bag, and the bag is what I was happy about. But yes, much like Jester I pretty much despise the very existence of the Lynx/Axe brand.

On happier notes, though:

From Duckay: Metamaus.
From Duckay's family: Snuff, Pandemic, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk.
From my family: Ticket to Ride: The Dice Expansion, Ticket to Ride: Alvin and Dexter, Bro on the Go, a coin-counting money box, Underbelly [Uncut] Limited Edition, a pair of noise cancelling headphones, and some Kathmandu travel towels.
From family friends: The aforementioned Lynx kit, some lovely coffee cups, and the AWESOME magazine cover canvas print.

Today's haul included:

The Fry Chronicles, Stephen Fry's autobiography
remote for my DSLR camera
a new 18-55 lens for my DSLR camera (to replace my original with a broken autofocus motor)
a framed series of b&w photos that use objects to spell my name
Just My Type book on typography
2012 calendar of superb 1930s British Rail advertising posters
skiing helmet
ski passes for next weeks Alpine holiday
the latest issue of Canoe & Kayak UK
DVD set of History Channel programs on ancient battles
a tie rack that hangs on a hanger rail (because quite frankly my ties were always a mess)
a nice glass Christmas tree decoration
a handy-dany wind-up keyring LED torch
a whole bunch of various mints such as Tic Tacs, Polos, etc.
pack of choc-chip cookies
big bag of twiglets
a nice big cheque
a couple gift cards

Also my DB5 shirt arrived on Christmas eve, so that sort of counts, for the children at least =)

So Axe Stick is something the company doesn't know how to market, then? ;)

Decent haul, some homemade cookies, a nice new winter coat, some needed sox & underwear, a Toblerone and a Terry's Orange, a handful of old games I got myself for cheap from G.O.G. (that work, but due to needing DOSBox, won't play nice with video capture apps, so no Let's Plays for them), and a borked copy of Fallout: New Vegas that seems to have fallen into the same trap I had with DXHR a few short months ago - game itself downloads fine, then Steam has to update it and the file transfer gets "Suspended" indefinitely with maybe .05% left to go...

...oh, and I foolishly turned "Automatically Update" back on for DXHR when I d/l'ed New Vegas, and THAT has been rendered unplayable, too.

Thanks, Mr. Newell...

Yesterday's haul:

    A set of Matrix DVDs

    A 'stocking' of assorted chocolates

Thank you for telling us about your concerns and frustrations over our most recent update to Steam. Your feedback is highly appreciated, and will be addressed shortly after Half Life 2: Episode 3 comes out.

In the meantime, you and I both know there's no way in hell you'll actually stop giving us all of your money, because despite both my personal body weight and our company's longstanding reputation for development cycles that rival geological eras in length, we're still the best damn thing to happen to PC gaming since the space flight sim died out.
