STOP ACTA: Petition to Stop Worldwide Internet Censorship
Worldwide petition to STOP ACTA the un-free trade agreement on censoring the internet worldwide:
http://www.care2.com/causes/act-on-acta-the-internet-war-is-not-over.html
Auto-send petition letter to key leaders Industry Minister Christian Paradis, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Department of Foreign Affairs: http://openmedia.ca/lockdown with mention of C-11, ACTA, TPP and the currently "defunct" SOPA.
If you are new to SOPA (stop online piracy act) see the Stop SOPA thread for reasons why it's horrible and you can't possibly be greedy enough to want it ever even if you're an artist like I am.
Edited additional Links here.
Official ACTA petition:
https://www.accessnow.org/page/s/just-say-no-to-acta
Letter example for Canadian's cause the C-11 is turning into SOPA little brother:
http://dearthey.com/c-11-form-letter/
Corrected Local MP lookup for Canadian's: http://www.parl.gc.ca/MembersOfParliament/MainMPsCompleteList.aspx?TimePeriod=Current&Language=E
Editing letters first paragraph and sending one for ACTA in addition is recommended.
(I still can't believe my own mother didn't know why I wasn't all for SOPA today...she cut lose from her facebook a while ago so obviously she's not getting the right news anymore even though I told her already more than once.
Let this be an example to you of why cross platform re-shares are necessary.)

I'll admit I haven't been following ACTA nearly as closely as I should have.
My understanding of it at the moment is that the EU has begun to ratify into law a treaty about which the public have been kept perpetually in the dark.
And good god is that the stupidest thing I think they've ever done.

Just throw "http://" in front of it; heck most modern browsers will automatically find the right protocol and carry on if you just copypasta what's between the 'url' tags, there.
And just because I know we're all lazy (myself included):
fixed link
Though I'm a little leery of giving my full snail-mail address for an online petition - the privacy policy is full of advertising references, too.
Signed anyway, despite the rife marketing at me during the whole experience; really took away some of my confidence in it...

Signed up on that one, too.
But my point was - even WITH the misgivings I had about 'Care2', I still signed the petition; dear Steve-o Harper - ACTA is that bad that I'm willing to go to such lengths.

We don’t have a unified system in the EU for stuff like this
but write/email you politicians and take you vote hostage.

Climbin' in yo parliaments?
Assuming all manner of things don't go tits up with these legislatures, I wouldn't be surprised to see a distinct and recognisable backlash on organised government as a result of how little they apparently listen to their constituents over big corporations. Perhaps a national channel will livestream all the goings on within the governmental heart, that'd be an interesting exercise in transparency.

Re: STOP ACTA: Petition to Stop Worldwide Internet Censorsh
That 'MP lookup' actually goes to a sight that shows how MPs vote on bills, ammendments to bills (this particular page linked was an ammendment to C-11 that got voted down).
THIS will get you contact info for your MP: http://www.parl.gc.ca/MembersOfParliament/MainMPsCompleteList.aspx?TimePeriod=Current&Language=E

Ah thanks. Alternatively if neither work for you in your country searching using your country name and find MP should work...unless your gov has already blocked finding your MP.

I agree. The only way I'd consider spying on us to this degree being even remotely alright would be if we could also spy on all politician's actions 24/7 both online and offline...which will likely happen when hell freezes over and they all renounce their own salaries to work for free.

Re: STOP ACTA: Petition to Stop Worldwide Internet Censorsh
Well I asked OpenMedia.ca about it and they thanked me for helping them come to the realization of this auto-send page to protest to key leaders. Looks like it includes Department of Foreign affairs, industry minister Paradis and PM Harper.http://openmedia.ca/lockdown
This is based in Canada but if you can't sign where you are suggesting a similar webpage to a similar organisation in your area is a good method for getting their balls rolling faster. Good idea to also still email your MP or call them.

Section undergoing maintenance...
So there was a worldwide protest today in some areas where they received enough notice to act:
https://www.accessnow.org/policy-activi ... st-feb-11/
Apparently another one will happen on Feb 25th. Please link to worldwide event pages if you come across any for that day. I've been tweeting about it but seems to be a sad amount of #stopACTA so far especially with meaningful links attached.

Re: STOP ACTA: Petition to Stop Worldwide Internet Censorsh
I wish sharing news and petitions were easier to do on networks not dedicated to that specifically like facebook. Then again some people will be annoyed no matter what you do or where you decide to do it. Ranting specifically of course can cause more argument than open-minded discussion. Posts that are humorous seem way more well received...
Idea: If anyone sees a political cartoon about ACTA/TPP or has inspiration to create one post it here.
Videos too.
This Hour Has 22 Minutes copyright spoof:

This one not humorous but has a point nonetheless about privacy:

Re: STOP ACTA: Petition to Stop Worldwide Internet Censorsh
Leadnow.ca is asking for people in major cities to participate at Legislature buildings in discussion about bill C-10 which is the offline omnibus crime bill that obviously will make more criminals of those that aren't including probably many internet users that stumble onto the wrong torrents or porn.
If you live in a city with Legislature buildings (Victoria included) you can sign up here: http://action.leadnow.ca/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=1694&ea.campaign.id=13800
or pass it on to someone that does and wants to attend.

NECRO OUTTA NOWHERE!
Good news; at least the EU has some sense in its parliamentarians:
ACTA Internet piracy legislation rejected by European Parliament
Acta down, but not out, as Europe votes against controversial treaty
...but, of course, that doesn't mean the EU's trade commissioner is going to stop trying to get similar crap passed into law, nor does it undo the support this dubious piece of legislation has gotten from other nations (including my own):
Europe's ACTA Protesters Haven't Actually Won Yet
Nonetheless, you could say that the MEPs decided to celebrate their own kind of 'independence day'...
