Yeah I did the same thing, except I was at the office. Forgot my volume was up. :X Luckily I was fast with the mute button.
I generally assumed most things in the Legend of Korra thread would be PG-13....

It took me far too long to remember what movie that is from.
All problems can be solved by trebuchets and/or fire.

Re: Legend of Korra!
I re-watched the Legend of Korra and I have to say watching all the episodes back-to-back the first series isn't as poorly paced as it seemed when we had to wait a week between episodes.
Amon's makeup thing is still total nonsense though.

I have to agree but Amon is a really smart guy so he probably though "Hmm if I ever get discovered I should totally have a cover story so I don't lose all of my creditability" honestly I just see it as the smart thing to do.

His scar should have just been real. He's revealed as a water bender anyway.

REBUMP!
With the DVD and Blu ray out, apparently the directors commentary has a "How Amon could take bending away". Here's the explanation by Mike and Bryan

Waterbending healing is based on opening the pools of chi throughout the body, almost like letting the body heal itself through water. Amon uses his bloodbending to do the exact opposite and close those chi pathways. And since bending uses a pearson's chi to manipulate the elements along side martial arts, blocking those paths stops bending.

DEADPOOL!!!!!!!
Cool, I was curious myself about how he did it, but that sounds about right. Does that mean that the Avatar just uses the same method or does he tag a spiritual disconnect too?

Re: Legend of Korra!
I think the Avatar uses the energy/spirit-bending knowledge given to him by the Lion Turtle, as a less brute-force and more permanent solution. Going by the explanation above, I would think that if a skilled enough waterbending healer (such as Katara) knew exactly how it was done, they could restore a person's bending ability.

THIS JUST IN
WOW, twins seem mean (totally didn't see that coming /s)
HE'S A COP?!
Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ftLm52V1y0
Looks to be awesome, we get to meet Avatar Wan, the first ever. You see him there in the odd art style as they're doing the flashback in the same manner as old Asian art (wood blocking and whatnot). so my way back when guess still stands, Korra will be the last Avatar. Calling it now!

He swore to abandon this mortal realm, I would have thought he'd phase out the library, the sinking thing was a fit of pique

Re: Legend of Korra!
Listening to the commentary on the BluRay, and I had no idea David Faustino was Mako.
Same with not noticing Chris Hardwick was Sokka.

Re: Legend of Korra!
My guess would be Avatar Korra, just a random one though.

Yeah...disturbing, isn't it?
...though, I'm wondering if some 'marketing' company somewhere hasn't just decided to hire on minimum-wage workers to be human spammers, because I've seen some really sincere posts outta these 'slip advertising links in later' spam-inducers...

Re: Legend of Korra!
The more "intelligent" sounding bots work by taking key words present in the topic, sticking them in Google, and assembling a post out of real posts on other forums so it looks convincing to the untrained eye.
Also, when I first saw that bot, its signature was a non-hyperlinked line about Levi jeans, I think. Just as an example on how they'll change their signatures after the fact to become more overt.
