PAX Vancouver. There, I said it. and while it's not in Washington it makes sense for a few reasons:

-It's Vancouver- It has a lot of the same quirkiness Seattle does, same Northwest setting
-The VCC, Pan Pacific Hotel and the Hotel across the street would allow for the Expo to grow. HUGE open spaces inside for gaming, and you could devote an entire floor for games that require a table and you still would have space left over.
-Despite what they tell you, businesses will do the paperwork to ship their products to Canada, because it's PAX.
-there's also a management saying that applies: "If you're not growing, you're dying" This applies to all conventions. If you stop growing, you become stagnant and uninteresting, and while that won't happen this year, or next, it could easily happen in 3 if they stay at the WSCC without it expanding.

But the question is, how many people from the USA are willing to get passports to come to PAX?

I have a theory that since the registration server crashed those first two times that when they opened it up now everyone went OH SHIT ORDER NOWWWWWWWW!!!! for fear it would crash again, then all the 3-Days went so fast, so then the panic wave of the people crazy determined to go descended on the 1-Day passes, and they went crazy fast too.

That, and most likely the scalpers just went crazy this year. Have you seen what a 3-Day pass is selling for on ebay? So sad to see that happening. Buying up passes just so you can sell them for 3x as much...

PAX Vancouver...

I think we're all still thinking too small here. What we need is: PAX Space. A massive orbiting satellite that can contain ALL the nerds, with various shuttle launch points around the globe. Because not only would there be room for everyone who wanted to attend, but also ALL OF PAX HAPPENS IN SPACE.

I'm going to go sit down before the incredible awesomeness of this idea completely overwhelms me.

I will be honest, I was thinking about buying 4 or 5 passes just to sell them, but I was thinking $100 tops not 250.

I was also thinking of the half dozen people on here who were like "oh man I want to go to pax east but I dont get paid until tuesday and they sold out!"

Flipping a $60 pass for $100 on the 'bay is hardly worth it. About $10 in eBay fees, shipping, etc...

Seriously, though, if I can't go I'd probably just make a fair trade with someone for it.

There are only 2 types of convention passes.

1) Transferable passes

2) Passes that convention organizers pretend to themselves aren't transferable.

Admittedly, if your picture is printed on your pass, it would be VERY hard to transfer.

The passes aren't transferable as far as I know IF they go to will-call you have to show photo I.D to pick up your pass and you can't change the name on the order IIRC.

However, the problem (I'm a fan of it regardless) is that PAX mails out their passes 2 weeks prior which is how scalpers make their money.

With that being said I think the average ticket sale was 1.74 or something per order (it's on the PAX twitter) so while it's easy to blame scalpers, it's also a lot of nerds like us who just want to go. That being said there are of course, scalpers.

The passes are transferable because I ordered 5, and they only asked me for information for my account that bought them. I'll be giving the other 4 to different people (well, one friend is reimbursing me for one, and 3 are going into raffles).

So you need to be the person who BOUGHT them to pick them up, but then they can go to anyone.

This is my theory as well, it should also be noted that there is no Blizzcon this year and I believe I read somewhere that a major League of Legends event is happening at this PAX.
