Re: The depressing depression thread
This isn't depressing, but the subject pertains, and maybe it'll be nice to hear.
My friend comes to me with her dysphoria a fair bit, and we talk about that and other stuff that bothers her. I rarely have solutions for her, but I ask her questions about her feelings and reactions, and tell her some of my thoughts/impressions, and then we move on to other stuff. She usually tells me she feels better after, and it makes me feel good. I think that treating her like a person and a friend rather than a problem to fix helps. And it's nice to keep in contact with her, now that she's a state north of me.

I stopped feeling happy today.

One of my gerbils has died. The other is running around the cage trying to find his brother. We adopted them from the pet shop because they'd grown too big to sell.
It's quite sad to watch him and my husband is upset about it.

Got this from RugbyDump; dude's not a massively gifted writer, but he talks the right stuff: http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/quee ... 6639954226
My advice to anyone dealing with a person suffering a chronic depressive illness is although you are sick and tired of their constant self-wallowing, keep remembering they are very ill. Although they know what they are doing and saying, their ability to know how wrong or stupid it is, is distorted.
You can't heal them, you can't make them feel better, all you can do is be there for them.
I promise they will thank you for saving their life when they become a better person.

So much this. Mental illness is something that we've become conditioned not to talk about, or something that is seen as a weakness or a problem. Just having normal conversations with your friends can make such a big difference.

Hey, guys! New Quest Available!
On a day when you know you aren't going to go outside, dress in your most outrageous/fancy/ridiculous combination of clothes that you have available. Dance around the house. If you have uncarpeted floors, skate around on your socks. If you have carpets, jump up and down, run around like mad, basically act as ridiculous as possible in the best clothes ever. If you're especially daring, leave the curtains open.

I wore my Be-goggled Top Hat while unloading the car earlier today. But that's because it was on top of the crate I wanted to carry and I didn't have any hands free.

I wear ridiculous clothes when I go outside the house. Well, relatively ridiculous. A gal who is 100lbs overweight should not wear yoga pants and tanktops... but screw it, they're comfortable. To hell with what other people think.

Re: The depressing depression thread
...I need to dance around the house tomorrow before work. I'll definitely feel better all day.
Also, I'm putting in my notice tomorrow. Wish me luck. I plan to move back home if possible.

Re: The depressing depression thread
hooray, I was served with an eviction notice today!
Taking a withdrawal from my 401(k) to cover the rent now, because I can't do that unless I face eviction.

Does going to school (and returning on the bus) dressed as a Skyrim character (studded armour, iron gauntlets, steel axe, iron shield and iron helmet, for the record), before coming home and dancing along to 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' mid-workout in lycras count for this quest?

My apologies. If it's any consolation, I was simultaneously weeping and laughing while reading it.
Re: The depressing depression thread
Just tried to record a Magic: the gathering draft video. Video failed miserably (the draft too, but that's not the point of course).
Hoping I'm gonna get another chance soon.

I cannot listen to that voice. Just feels WRONG by not being Stephen Moore.

My PS2 got sick last week and I started running silly doomsday scenarios about me not being able to buy a replacement because they're not getting produced anymore. And then I fixed it.

After slowly climbing my way out of one of the deepest pits I've been in I find myself starting to sink down again. Things look and taste so damn bland. What's the point when time keeps passing and nothing really changes?
Sit down. Get ready. Sit down again!

^ this.
I'm trying to break out of it by cleaning my house, in preparation for a move. I started procrastinating on that this morning by updating the inventory I keep of my books and stuff, but I'm doing something. It keeps my mind off of the "why even do I do anything" bullshit I put myself through on a daily basis.
I'm also trying to keep in mind:
