Re: Venting Thread Delta - Now With Easy to Follow Rules
I'm too tired to get any real work done so I went to bed. Now I'm lying here too awake to sleep. I have to be up in 4 hours. I was hoping to catch up on my work tomorrow but on 4 hours of sleep it seems unlikely. Thanks, body.

Being ahead of schedule is making me feel sick, I'm working slowly and feeling like shit. Why do I need constant stress to work properly?

While the forum refuses to tell me any more, I believe it last said that my most posted forum thread was the sex thread. I assure you, I was not having a proportional amount of sex.

You're just too awesome to be told.
I somehow pissed off another person over mentioning Christianity on the interwebs.
Someone really didn't like me trying to justify a "Noah's Arc" reference in an episode of the Pokemon Anime. I'm sure sure if the person is an angry Atheist or a very aggressive Christian. But they certainly said somethings to me which I can get them banned for.

I've got a little under 25% in the Hijack thread
Noah totally could have fit all the animals on the ship if he had pokeballs.

Weirdly, one theory about the Ark posits that Noah took all dinosaurs aboard the ark in egg form; those creatures that died out were those whose hatching did not result in a male/female pair.
It's one of the stranger theories, to be sure...

aye, another of the weirder theories is that there was this one feller who suddenly had the inclination to build a sodding gigantic boat.

It saddens me when people get so acidic when Religion gets mentioned. But it doesn't surprise me, but it still saddens me.
Oh well, if the person who raged at me was Christian I could own him so hard. Since I can play the God/Jesus card.

Re: Venting Thread Delta - Now With Easy to Follow Rules
According to the Russell Crowe movie all animals on Earth magically walked into the ark. What strikes me as odd though is that the movie then has a "scientific" explanation for how Noah and his missus put them to sleep all that time. Why didn't god just chip in the extra cent and put them to sleep with maaaagic? He already did 99% of Noah's job...

Also because it's a Darren Aronofsky joint and he's fond of the surreal?

ETA: Put it under a spoiler because it's pretty gross.
If I complain about the house I work at being out of gloves, does that make me sound petty? I mean, things happen, you accidentally run out of things, especially while you're in the process of setting up and you haven't got a great handle on how fast you go through supplies and all that sort of business. On the other hand, it's remarkably unpleasant to find yourself facing human faeces that needs to be cleaned up and only then realizing that there are no gloves.

Riked my back tying my shoelaces. I must have slept funny or something, and that set it off. Now I'm at work, struggling to breathe and edit. It feels like someone's kicked me in the rib cage

That sounds pretty serious and your muscles around your ribs as well as back are contracting. You should sit down for a bit and try to avoid any unnecessary pressure for a few days.

Ok, took a little longer lunch break, drove to a nearby town and grabbed paracetamol and ibuprofen. Now it only really hurts when I breathe.

Re: Venting Thread Delta - Now With Easy to Follow Rules
I went to school to be a wildlife biologist and each subsequent summer I've been getting farther and farther from my goal. First summer I worked with birds, good. Next I worked with plants, still technically wildlife. Next I did forestry stuff, not really getting information for science, more for economy. And now this summer I've been shanghai'd into doing soils work. My job will be carting my ass out into bogs for 14 hour days to slog to a point in the middle of nowhere to dig a grave.
I applied to wildlife jobs. I applied to one where I had some previous experience working with the lady who was hiring (and yes, she was happy with my work). She was hiring four people, it was for a company I've been working with for two subsequent summers, I have a bachelors (cum laude, I might add) in the field. I had two glowing recommendation letters. I didn't even get a fucking interview.
This is cathartic!

Every time a video has poorly mixed audio, ALL THE AUDIO IS IN THE LEFT CHANNEL! Why is my left speaker dead?

My Dad studied Botany at University and had to work voluntarily for 15 years until he got a paid position for "English Nature". He's now a Manager in "Natural Resources Wales" and wishes he was allowed out to do field work. But he's prohibited from doing so because someone has to do all the managing stuff and paper work. He applied for a higher position 8 years ago, and someone his junior was employed instead of him (usually a ladder system happens, but someone skipped over him). Basically since he got leg cancer and an artificial hip, they seem him as a liability so are reluctant to give him a better position.
I have complete sympathy for you.
I think it's down to people not really giving enough of a toss for the natural world.

Important Discussions on the Internet
They're important. It helps as a "community" discuss topics like gender representation in video games. The problem is that they attract replies and comments easily because everyone has an opinion. It's good to discuss it and see what other people think. However, pages and pages of opinion isn't exciting reading. You won't have many people wanting to go out of their way to read the majority of the comments. As a result it's practically pointless contributing since barely anyone will see your opinion. All you contribute to is adding an extra number to the replies.
The only thing that can be gained from it is see how much people care about the topic and rationalising your own opinion.
I wonder how constructive they actually are. Is there a format that will allow these discussions to take place in a healthier way?

Are you able to swap lines somehow so the left sound goes to the right speaker?Lurkon wrote:Every time a video has poorly mixed audio, ALL THE AUDIO IS IN THE LEFT CHANNEL! Why is my left speaker dead?
