Yeah, that's something I've been told, sadly that doesn't help me much, so excuse me if I remain bitter about it.

I spent 2 year unemployed. In the end my sanity was being stretched so I enrolled on a course to do be a plumber.

I hated how much money I spent doing voluntary work just so I could be more employable.
I got £52 benefits a week.

£27 was spent on Driving Lessons (so I could look for jobs off the bus routes)
£15 was spent on bus fares to the Job Centre and to Voluntary Work Placement.

I had £8 to live off a week.

Bare in mind I had an Overdraft from University hanging over me, where the interest-free threshold would shrink every academic year.

I would have been better off not trying to get more qualified for work. The system is broken. It encourages you to cheat it.

I'm still in Blacktown, around half an hour away from Sydney Central. I should have arrived over half an hour ago, but the line was partially closed. I understand it's complex to manage disruptions like this, but this is fucking ridiculous. I first got on the train over two hours ago; my trip is usually around 1:40.

Just throwing this out there...

Being asleep in the middle of the day doesn't constitute "sleeping in" when you're working midnight - 8am that night.

Yet more issues today:
Almost the entire class from one of my tutorial, including the tutors, were late to the lecture today because of UTS Building 11's lifts. We would have been even later if we hadn't ended up collectively going "fuck this shit" and using the fire escape. The fire escape which, except, presumably from the ground floor, cannot be opened from the inside.
All because the genius(es) who designed the building didn't put a regular staircase between levels 5 and 6, or, if they have, it's not where the rest of them are. You can easily get from level B2 to level 5 via stairs and/or escalators, and from level 6 to level 7 via stairs, but not from 5 to 6.

Yeah, it's sad and frustrating that so many people don't understand shift workers, despite there being so many of them. My mom typically works 11 PM to 7 AM at the hospital.

I think most feedback on people's sleeping habits is BS.
If someone's having difficulty with sleep patterns, telling them to go to bed doesn't help.

You spend hours producing work.
You spend an hour or so preparing it for an upload.
You spend an hour or so data entering for the work.

Yeah, so I woke up to darkness. I'd rolled over previously, and looked at the clock to read 6am-ish (I'd gone to bed earlier than usual).

This time, the power was out.

After rummaging around in dim light from wet, cloudy skies through small windows, I found my watch and confirmed it was 7:30am.

Our radio has batteries, so I pulled the power cord out and turned it back on...after a few songs, we got the weather report - Rain/Drizzle/Fog. Changing stations, I eventually found one that went to "listener-supported traffic reports", in which a caller mentioned that the traffic light of a major intersection I live near was out. The announcer confirmed there was a power outage and listed off a series of streets around my neighbourhood. "An estimated resolution time is being investigated."

Fortunately it was only about another hour while we sat with candles and read, waiting for the power to return. When it did, I had a hot shower, and then we set off in drizzly weather to the bus stop. Took it up to a 'box store' area, with the plans of getting an early lunch at a decent restaurant, get a haircut, and get groceries.

Well, due to a lack of anything to do, we'd set off at 9:30am - and it was about a quarter to ten when we got there. The restaurant doesn't open until 11am. :P

Well, the haircutters were open, and I feel MUCH lighter. :)

Then we said SCREW the restaurant meal, because there was a Subway right next door :)

But then our search for a magnifying sheet for zyxst fell apart, none of the stores had what we were looking for.

And by the time we'd eaten, it was raining kinda heavy, so we just plodded along to the supermarket to restock our larder.

...and then every single person proceeded to get on the one nerve I had left. :P

I swear, people literally PUSHING me out of the way to get at something; running over my foot with their carts (yes, PLURAL), barrelling right at me in a narrow aisle with a cart - what the FUCK do you expect me to do - climb over the damn shelves?!? It's two feet between me and the end of the aisle you just came in, but you WON"T FUCKING GIVE and instead make me turn around and backtrack down twenty feet of aisle, and get separated from my wife? DIE IN A PAINFUL CAR WRECK, YOU SELF-CENTERED CUNT!

Yeah, after about ten minutes of this, I was thinking about going outside in the rain...but then I thought of all these same idiots doing the same shit to me WITH THEIR CARS, instead.

Ugh.

And we've gotta go out again an get a money order to mail off to the US DoE to appease zyxst's student loan for another month. Maybe...oh fuck; nope - I just remembered why we were going to go out for lunch instead of supper; all the fucking jaggoffs crowd the restaurants at suppertime. I guess we'll get some take-out delivered or something...

But on the plus side; yesterday's Feed Dump cheered me up REAL GOOD after we got home and put all the groceries away, and I rested my arthritic joints (yeah, as much as we need the rain, my legs are HATING this and having to have spent four hours and change walking around in it.

So, you went to a bar. You got stupid drunk and obnoxious, and picked a fight. When security came to escort you out, you picked a fight with security.

By the end of the night, you'd been thrown (almost literally) out of the club, got arrested, and you got your ass kicked twice - once at the bar, and apparently again at the jail.

Does the thought ever cross your mind: "Gee, maybe I should try being less of a monumental asshole?"

No?

Well, all right then.

What's the point of giving feedback that doesn't tell you why or how?

Oh great, someone told me my transitions were too rough again. Um, please explain? I don't have the luxury of peering into your brain.

Entered a coaster building contest and they gave half marks for my Video of the ride. Oh, you kinda forgot to say that you were marking videos. Videos have the job of showing my work. If I known you were expecting a media project, I wouldn't have entered. My videos are too the point. They don't waffle and waste time do pointless fancy shots.

Found out this morning my fiancé has lice. I hate dealing with lice. And his hair is so damn thick, they're going to stick around for a bit no matter how many bastards I murder.

I actually found a chart that uses the life cycle of the lice to my advantage, but it takes just under a month to complete, so I'm going to that to get rid of them for good. Along with what my dad did when I was a kid. Which was pick out all the hair with nits we could find and burn the little bastards. So my fiancé is going to not like me for the next couple of days. Plus we'll use the medicated shampoo to hopefully kill some adults.

During the First World War they used to combine lice treating with a little home cooking, so they could throw the lice onto the hot skillet to finish them off (or some variant of that theme anyway). And, for one reason or another, lice were different colours on each side of the Western Front- red for the Alliance, white for the Entente (or possibly the other way round). The war also produced the world record for the most number of lice on a single person- in the region of 16,000.

History is fun!

It wasn't mine, I just contributed to the discussion every so often. Hephaestus and Master Gunner ran it. I've got a decent basis of historical knowledge, but it's very narrow and I'm not particularly inventive with those kinds of things. So I'm not really in a position to continue it myself.

Life got in the way for Hephaestus, and I just got busier and slowly lost motivation.

Mostly I was just looking at the wikipedia page for "this day in history", picked something that looked interesting, and summarized the article. Only a handful of days dealt with subjects I had any real knowledge about.
