It's probably a hormonal change or swollen lymph node, but doctor. Always. To be safe. Don't fuck around with that.

I've been feeling absolutely awful lately, considering seeking professional help... This isn't how I imagined things would turn out.

Well, I strolled down to work on a lovely, quiet Sunday morning, and got things ready in the deli, and while the whole chickens were cooking, I went around and took the temperatures of the refrigerated cases...

...when I got to the walk-in cooler with the attached walk-in freezer, there was a picture taped to the freezer door with some writing on it. It was of a pile of chicken wing-bones, swept up into a pile on the floor. The caption explained that these (maybe 12-15 of them) had been found in the freezer under the shelves. Someone had taken food stock, eaten it on the sly, then just threw the waste in the freezer where we wouldn't see it.

Image

Now, the whole 'stealing food' from the deli is one thing - and I've seen people get in trouble for doing it. For example, those wings sell at about 80 cents each; that's around $10 of revenue that the store lost; it's little different from someone taking a ten dollar bill out of a cash register. Admittedly, everyone 'samples' here and there, and that's seen AND ACCEPTED. But...a DOZEN WINGS? And it seems to have happened over a period of time - sneaking one or two at a time.

But what really gets me riled up is why didn't they just drop the bones in aGARBAGE CAN?!? We've got FOUR of them all over the deli. How can someone be either so pig-ignorant of basic hygiene and cleanliness or blatantly dismissive of same?!?

It's like "Do-de-do; I just peeled all these vegetables for supper, so now I'll just throw all these clippings in the fridge" (!) I...you...*GAAAAAAA!!!!*

It virtually breaks my mind to try to conceive what this person was THINKING when doing this...

And adding to my frustration is that, apart from the Manager, the two Assistant Managers and the one deli clerk that's been there longer than me, every employee (both present and former) in that deli since before the renovations was trained on food safety and whatnot by ME, so this both wounds my pride, and makes me doubt my abilities. :(

The "Guilty Party" is going to be fired if/when it's determined who it was, but in all honesty, the current staff...really doesn't strike me as people that would DO this sort of thing! Don't get me wrong, there's a handful of slackers, but STILL...

Now there's one chap who'd had been working with us up to maybe four or five months ago, and he WAS caught essentially trying to take some wings home without paying for them...it's POSSIBLE he had done this too - since they were in the FREEZER and frozen solid, we don't know how old they are (max maybe 12-14 months since that freezer was set up).

Oh, and just on a hunch, I took a piece of cardboard and a pair of gloves and knelt down to check the freezer floor. I found a packet of sweet&sour sauce from one of our Chinese food kits, a couple of par-baked baguettes (that likely got dropped and rolled under and ppl just forgot about them), a WHOLE mess of packing tape discarded from boxes opened in the freezer, and yes, three or four more wings - one was untouched (possibly just dropped) but the others were gnawed down - hell, one was just ONE END of the bone with the cartilage - I hope they found the other half when THEY cleaned up. I'd been worried we might just have wings getting dropped and mice or worse had been getting in there, but I've seen the results of rodent depredation, these wings were eaten by a person. :(

I just....I really just can't understand how someone could do this - you DON'T SHIT IN YOUR BED, metaphorically speaking. Maybe it's that I actually give a damn about this job, unlike the horde of disaffected slackers that have drifted through the deli since we renovated (I know there's been so many new hires come and go in the past year or two that I can't remember all their names), and I suppose someone who's 'just doing this for beer money' might snaffle a bite to eat here and there, but...still, GARBAGE CAN. Image

*befuddled and disappointed sigh* Every time I get in a good mood, something has to storm in and annihilate my faith in humankind...

Why can't you just stop hurting me?

Another vote for seeing the doctor asap. Better safe than sorry. And *hugs*.

Some people have an incredible ability be total idiots and/or jerkwads despite a whole bunch of good training on how not to be, so I wouldn't blame yourself for this.

It makes me sad that you have people like that with a job and there's me doesn't.

It's like when I went into that sweet shop and that idiotic girl banterfully said how she's eaten a lot of sweet. I would have destroyed her for that job she had and was so ungrateful for. "Oh it's so borrrringggggg". Yeah,my oxfam work is booooorrrriiingggg too and I don't get paid for it, but I still do it. I want a job and everyday I realise how competent I am and how worthless other people are.

What wage is it empath, are you hiring? Is it worth me to emigrate to Newfoundland for a job?
-----
This is NOT a mother rant.

I'm annoyed that my mother is being helpful. She spent the last year being treated and recovering from cancer and has been a huge emotional weight for me dragging me back. And now it's better, I think she feels a duty as a mother to help me excel in my career. I am grateful for that. But now is not the time. I am trying to battle the Job Centre and getting any job for reliable income to sort myself out. And she is adding onto what I'm juggling of "Make greetings cards", "Ask about exhibiting your work", "Blah", "Bleeh" "blugh". I feel like she wants me to be a self-employed artist for than I do.
Today, I realised what I specialised in I don't exactly enjoy. I can paint, but I don't enjoy it. What I do 'paint' and enjoy is more abstracty things which is in a way more of an exploration of 3d work/geometry and form.

I've always enjoyed using clay but I have never been allowed to follow that passion because of a evil art tutor scolding me for not being interested in researching glazes and clay types and making a pwetty scrapbook. Or not having the money or confidence to pursuit it in Uni. To now of not having the space, or the money for a kiln and workshop. I'm having a reflection period and drugery period of evil adult life and I'm having optimism charged into me :P

Today, we were speaking to a craftslady at a craft event and she talked about her daughter who declined a job offer in London because her daughter said 'Why do I have to go to London to craft?'. She then told us that her daughter has gone to Japan and is trying to establish herself there and said "sometimes you have to take risks". I thought that was very hypocritical. You're preaching "do what you want to do" and then preaching me what to do. Well what if I don't want to take risks to do my craft?. My head :(

No Nexus 7 delivery for me today. And when it is delivered, I hope I don't get one of the rushed ones that are falling apart.

The launch of this is turning out to be more like the launch of the Sinclair QL than the iPad...

Due to some unfortunate economic decisions I was unable to purchase lunch today.

Now I'm sitting at work, I'm hungry as hell, I feel like shit because of an 'incident' this weekend and I'm tired as hell, despite sleeping close to 9 hours this night.

Job Centre sent me a letter asking me why I didn't apply for/accept the job/accept the training for a job.

I applied for the job. I never recieved any correspondance. I am confused. Hungry for blood. I cannot prove that I have done because I don't keep track of this nature because I don't expect to be falsely accused.

I'm going to be penalised because the system is shit. It's nice that they're chasing after the innocent and not the real sponges.

Looks like if I get perma-kicked off JSA (because they will find me guilty and this is the second time) I'll just start selling greetings cards.

Perhaps I should get some printed and try to sell them to the staff at the job centre. See if they notice that this is subtle harassment.

Empath - why is your freezer not cleaned on a weekly basis? Pretty standard protocol to clean weekly during inventory and/or restocking. That would narrow down your time frame to within a week...

My email system enjoys putting some emails in my junk. But a lot of junk have very infectious virus so it's risky for me to browse through that folder. Means I could miss important e-mails.

Oh technology, why are you so shit? At least with the postage system, you couldn't catch a virus and then vomit spam through other people's letter boxes.

True, but it does present me with a rather amusing mental image of someone being compelled to throw junk mail at their neighbours.

Or sending a postcard with a Goaste on it through someone's letter box as a joke.

Perhaps there's a sketch in that? Steam-Punk internet. What would happen if none of the internet was electronic.

I envision miles and miles of Facebook walls with people running around like twits to write one sentence down on it and running off to the next wall.

So this might be a bit much but still, a dear friend of mine got....ostensibly raped by another friend of mine, you can guess which of them is still considered a friend......anyways so I feel like ripping his testicles out thankfully I'm in a different state ...for now.....he doesn't know that I know and I'm not sure how to deal with such a scummy human being....I already knew he was in the shithead catergory but I didn't know raping a drunk who forgets everything the next day(alcohol is like roofies to her) was on his list of things to do. ALLL OF MY I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BUT I WANT TO PUNCH HIM FACE.
(Side note to explain emotional investment, I previously dated said girl)

I hope your friend can work through this and come out alright in the end. :(

Here's how this is going to work. I can refer to you as what you are, or we can both chose what we want the other person to refer to themselves as. So unless you want to refer to me as "master," don't waste your time acting like I owe it to you to pretend you're something you're not, either.

I'm sick and tired of bouncing between migraines and vertigo. I want to be able to walk up-right, in the sunlight, without getting sick. I want my bed not to spin in circles, or tip like a rocking boat in a storm.
