What the fucking fuck is this bullshit. I host a server in Terraria, and instantly my net cuts out, need to remove and replugin the wireless usb. I try to open server browser on ARK that I just got gifted, same thing... How the fuck do I even google that problem? "My net stops working when I try and host a sever in one game or search for a server in another but otherwise works fine." ? Fucking useless sack of shit wireless on my piece of fucking trash junk heap PC the lot of it can get dumped in the fucking gutter when I move, not worth however much it'll cost to transport them.

To follow up on last night's drunken rant, I've chosen to move back to my parents while I figure out what to do next. Hopefully that will at least help with my sleeping problems.

I still want to just flip tables endlessly, though.

Why, oh why, did I start a YouTube comment thread, especially about Dark Souls? I'm getting the worst of both worlds. Image

Some rando on Twitter saw fit to comment on my boobs today after people retweeted my phases shirt picture. Wonderful.

I saw your tweets about that. =/ I don't get what goes through some people's heads that makes them think they should act like that.

Too much Crusader Kings this weekend; not enough sleep, food, exercise or socialisation.

The fact that it was a Runner and not just a rando makes it somewhat worse in my opinion. :(

We're not excluded from having a few bad eggs: GodOfGod, Yukikaze (kind of tame) and ottoman (dick). Still surprising.

I was lucky enough to miss the first two, I guess, but yeah. Not too upset that we haven't seen him in a long while.

I guess this is one of the unavoidable side effects of LRR continuing to reach new audiences (particular the Magic and Twice ones recently, I think), they're being exposed to a lot of new people. Most will be great additions to the community, but a few won't.

Still, I think this forum does a pretty good job of policing itself, if we can easily list the problem members. And there have been a few others that popped up in the more controversial threads, but they don't seem to stick around when they see their opinions aren't going to get them very far here.

Doesn't make it any easier when those people do show up, of course, and Twitter is a far less isolated community.

I'm hoping he'll apologize this morning and then we can all move on. He doesn't seem to be absolutely awful? I really hope it was just a very poor lapse in judgement.

Possibly, it was an indirect comment but an ill thought one.
Yukikaze wasn't bad, we had a politcal thread at one point and a high percentage of people here are liberal leaning and he was a republican. He was picking a fight and lost.

Oh and there was stinkychops, he was just a plain idiot.

well, stinkychops was a troll from another community here with the intent of inciting things...and after a few small flare-ups, he realised he wasn't getting much of what he wanted, and...actually started taking part in the discussions, kinda earnestly.

But as most trolls, lost interest with a lack of 'secondary detonations to his outgoing fire'.

Ottoman? I...this is just pure conjecture, but he seemed to be entering a phase; maybe something happened in his life to provoke such behaviour from him, but he started out fairly cool and just...I dunno. :(

Of course, our one REAL troll doesn't really count, since we actually assimilated Lavos...sort of...

...weird that I kinda *miss* Lavos...

I dunno. I went back once and saw that Otto used to be decent, but honestly? It looked like he was becoming a different person, not just going through a phase. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a gamergater now. It seemed like the direction he was heading.

I'm not a GamerGater, but I wouldn't judge a whole group by the crap of small lot of tossers.

Well the term "Gamergater" generally refers specifically to those vocal tossers.

Got to be annoying for those who did want ethics (some sites have started incorporating new policies).

Apparently I missed this Otto character. I've 10 people on my Foe list, but I think most of those are spammers, or the new accounts that popped up at the start of Gamergate, and haven't been back since.

I do remember there being a real account I wasn't a fan of. I can't remember his name, but he had a kinda buff guy for an avatar? But I think that might have been more a clash of personalities?

You're talking about Wraith. He's an okay guy when I've talked to him normally. He's really strong on his opinion and will argue it.

As much as I like MtG and think that the community at large is at least decent with some really good people, there are also a good number of assholes or worse. You can see some of that when they play MtG on stream. There are some super salty people when a misplay (or even a perceived misplay) is made.

Anyways, the main reason I came here to vent is actually linked to discussion. So... yay? I really dislike that I don't feel like I can give my opinion online about any real subject. If you say even the smallest thing against or for something that's a big topic, you're going to get a ton of crap. This is true of GamerGate. If you show support for GamerGate, you get a ton of crap. If you say anything against GamerGate, you get a ton of crap. If you say anything about GamerGate, you get a ton of crap.

I don't think it'd bother me so much if it wasn't for the fact that some people get some pissed off that they will actively try to make your life as shitty as possible. Doxxing people in order to actually get them fired from their job, digging into their past to find any single piece of shame they can hit them with. These are things that people do on both sides, too, even if one utilizes it more than the other.

Even just the 'normal' influx of shit is more than I want to deal with. I have opinions on subjects. Honestly, I want to share my opinions on subjects. But I don't want to deal with the arguments that often spring from sharing opinions like that. And I mean arguments, not discussions. I don't mind discussion (though I don't want to have to spend a bunch of time having it with twelve different people about the same subject). But more often than not, that's not what we get. We get normally people talking past each other with no regard for the other's opinion and a lack of open-mindedness needed to change one's opinion.

That's a problem I think I have with discussions in general anymore. And not even just on the internet. It feels like discussion have become useless. It's rare that someone is willing to concede their point. If it's someone you know and/or respect, or if it's a relatively minor opinion, it becomes more likely. But many people seem unwilling to change their opinion when talking to strangers. And I include myself in that.

I guess the TL;DR is: I have opinions. I want to share them. I feel I can't. It's either due to fear of dealing with a ton of people just saying I'm wrong in varying degrees of politeness, or having embarrassing things brought to light and/or having my personal life brought into matters. Though honestly, I'm the same as everyone else and just want everyone to agree with me.

Yeah, that's him. Rubbed me the wrong way, but I won't lay that on him specifically. It's possible that the way he argues gets to me more than it otherwise would.
