The most frustrating thing I've seen was people comparing her to Rosa Parks. She is not Rosa Parks in this situation. She's the bus driver.

Thankfully, I've not seen anyone do that. Then again, it would make it easier to know what people to trim off of my friend lists...

The really annoying thing about her? I totally support what she's doing. Civil disobedience is an incredible thing, and, even though I don't at all approve of what she stands for, her methods are admirable. Why can't the gay community do something other than throwing an occasional parade and acting like life sucks and actually do something useful to end homophobia? As it stands, the only gay rights icons are the ones who were killed.

So I broke the tip of my finger today... Well, I guess yesterday now.

Test your strengh hammer game at an arcade, win tickets. It's a big rubber hammer with a plastic handle... And a large chain on the bottom. Guess who's hand slipped straight down with all my body force behind it, and got jammed into that chain. It's really annoying cause other than the dull throb, I don't notice it until I do something that knocks it in the wrong direction and it feels like someone hit me in the hand wiht a hammer. Typing's also annoying.

I just discovered that the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy text-based adventure game was released as a free Java applet online a little while ago.

So, with the intent of bookmarking the page for later use, I went to the page with the game to make sure it still works, and the familiar "Security risk blah blah blah" Java thing came up, I pressed okay, and... Nothing. It didn't run.
You see, it turns out that a recent version of Java removed the medium security setting, all that's left is high and very high. As a result, if a page doesn't use HTTPS protocol, it completely disables all Java on the page. The only way around this is that there's a whitelist buried in the settings somewhere that lets specific pages(Not sites, individual PAGES) act like you have it on the now-removed medium setting.
I consider myself a computers expert, and this took me 20 minutes to sort out. Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
This is exactly the kind of stuff that HHGTTG makes fun of.

Yeah, the Java security settings are annoying. The remote observing client for I telescope I use is Java and the current version of Java does not like the way client is set up security wise. Java is bad for this sort of thing being rather verbose and require a lot of boilerplate code.

I'm always annoyed when software limits my freedom. I like to think of myself as an informed computer user; I should be able to turn the safeguards off if I need to.

Someone was a bit brash in a reply to me on a commenting system for blogposts.
I viewed their profile and saw that they called themselves a "Hate Group Hunter".
I review their comments for other blogs and they're all argumentative.

I find their self appointed title ironic.

I want to tell him this. But it won't be good. I am not equipped to hold the mirror up to him constructively. So I can only bitch about it.

Isn't it scary that even someone who tried to be noble, they're still vulnerable to being a hypocrite.

Okay, a local radio station (K-Rock) has a 'morning show' contest - they play a short sound effect, and you have to call in with your guess what the sound is; if you get it right, you win the purse, if not, $100 is added to the purse. They take three guesses at 7am, 8am & 9am each weekday.

The first one was played and guessed in a day or two. The current 'K-Fx' is THIS...

...and it has been for THREE DAMN WEEKS. :x

(There's a soundcloud link on that page so you can listen to the sound yourself if you wish)

Nobody seems to be able to nail down what the sound is - the page even lists off all the guesses that have driven this to now be worth FORTY-SIX-HUNDRED DOLLARS.

AND none of the guesses are close to what I think the sound is...

...but being a cabbie, I'm kinda busy between the hours of 7 & 9 in the morning, driving people to work and school, etc. And I just can't find the time to call in (even though I'd have to luck out and be the nth caller to get picked to guess)

Three weeks of listening to the same sound bite being played over and over all day long for ads for the contest...heck, the whole budget for the WHOLE CONTEST is supposed to be ten grand; at this rate, this SECOND sound will eat up the WHOLE dang contest. One would hope for a little frickin' variety, but every damn day it's this same damn thing.

So, yeah, this is grating the heck out of my patience. ;)

(BTW: anyone wanna hazard a guess here what it might be - given what people have already guessed? ;) )

See, that's the path I was thinking down: Dragging/rolling wheeled luggage over rough pavement or gravel.

In the last day or two I'm starting to doubt myself - it sounds a little too regular, and the 'rumble' peters off before the clip ends, maybe more like something being pushed over rollers?

So, my friends who's dad is in rehab for his memory after being hit by a car. A few days ago one says "Huh, I closed my dads curtains, why are they open." and goes and closes his bedrooms curtains. Next day, sister says "Hey, I closed/opened my door when I left, was sister in my room?" "Nah, she hasn't been home all day, I just got here with you. You have a ghost."

Tonight, a few days later. Walk to coles at night after asking if they need anything since they're on my way. Nah, they're in the city and don't need anything. Walk past their house, pitch black, noticed the wire door was open again, made a mental note to message friend and ask if she'd like me to walk round and close it for them. 25minutes later walk home, lights are on in the kitchen and out the front, visible houses away. "Oh they're home. wonder if I'll give them some time to chill or head round now." as I walk past the driveway and security camera (Doesn't record just views.) the front light turns off, walk to top of hill and go home.
Send friend a joke about how un-welcoming she is, just turning the light off on me. She has no clue, but hey, they just got home, come round.
Oh well, problem is that was about 30minutes after I got home and sent the message.

Someone has found an easy way in and out of their house, they were still in the city, nobody else is supposed to be home, but all their lights were turned on within 25minutes, and presumably, someone was about to walk out right as I walked past. This isn't an ok situation.

I'm really quite pissed off, because someone can come and go from a house with 2 teenage girls, alone. Knows when they will and wont be there, and hasn't done anything noticable in that time. They thought I was imagining things, but you maybe imagine the kitchen light being on that you see over the fence. Not 3 windows with lights on and the front light where you clearly look over and see the front door lit up, then turn off after 10 seconds. If I'd taken 2 more minutes there's a chance I'd have walked into them, and then this would be a solved problem. I'm gonna find who it is, and then find out why. And then make sure it doesn't happen again. This isn't gonna end badly for the people I care about. Whoever's doing this, well they made their mistakes.

Just, don't rush into things. If they have that easy of an access to the house it's probably someone they know. (have they shared a key with the neighbours or a friend maybe?) Don't go punching someone in the face until you know what's going on.

There are 3 people who have a key. 1 in hopstitle, 2 visiting him. There was someone who has easy access to the house there, uninvited and nobody knows who or why.

Yeah, I think "wheels on rough asphalt/concrete" seems right. There's sort of a consistent low rumbly noise, and a rougher one. Sounds like a wheel spinning on a bearing, like on a skateboard or luggage, and a rough noise of the ground. Sort of like this, if you recorded it from much closer.

England are out of the World Cup. This is annoying, but whatever.

More frustratingly, it looks like South Africa are due to top Pool B. This means second place is probably a straight fight between Scotland, land of my forefathers (and who I honestly feel better about than England, purely because they are playing more interesting rugby) and Japan- and if Japan don't get through, then it will be an utter tragedy.

This world cup now has the prospect of ending very disappointingly and involving a lot of boring rugby from hereon in. Which sucks.

So. My best friend had the French loose her luggage. And in Barcelona, she used her card somewhere that was skimming them and lost all her money, over $2000, and is now broke, and wearing her boyfriends clothes with 3 more weeks of Europe left.

Meanwhile, I get home from supermarket last night, talk to room-mate for 40minutes in the hallway, 10feet from the front door. Walk outside, stick my head back in to say he left his car light on, and nope. Someone just walked up all 15 feet from where we were, opened his door and took his cars GPS. Left the expensive ass suit of chainmail in the boot...

Meanwhile still no clue who was in my other friends house the other night.

So, my friends dad got out of rehab on Saturday. I stayed home, gave them time, apparently all was good. Went over Sunday, he walks in 10minutes later with 8 cans of Wild Board, strong premixed bourbon. I was looking at one of the girls as she seen it, the look of complete and utter defeat on her face... Over a dozen times yesterday it felt like someone was just stabbing me in the heart as I seen her or her sister just being completely and utterly destroyed by it.

At this point, one of them is rapidly aproaching the point she snaps and leaves. The other has developed full blown confrontation anxiety to the point I feel like she might break down if she has to say no if anytone asks for a glass of water. I mean, she's guaranteed to have a nervous breakdown the way she's going. The both of them love their cunt of a father so fucking much but he actively uses that to get away with the shit he's doing, and it's destroying them, and I can't stand seeing it. He's been home 3 fucking days!

It's a rare day, but I have to vent on behalf of someone else, because the situation is so messed up, it's making me upset.

JediJon110 in the Twitch chat had a backpack full of MtG cards stolen out of his car yesterday, as well as his stereo. When he came into chat today, several of us gave him the standard advice (contact Pawn Shops and LGSes in case the thief is trying to fence, contact the police and file a report). So, when he came back, he came back with very messed up news. He contacted the city police, and they told him that his house was out of their jurisdiction's borders and to contact the county. So he contacts the county police, and they tell him that his house is outside their jurisdiction, so he should contact the city. Neither police will help him! That makes me very angry!

Went to the doctor today, following up from some scans I had done last week. Still have no idea what is causing the pain in my head. I don't even know what to pursue next, beyond looking at the swollen lymph node on that side directly.

So I quit smoking today. Smokes and weed. Smokes, always planned on getting rid of. Weed, well, I just need money. I'm already starting to feel it, and the worst part is, it's anxiety. If the withdrawals came in some other form it'd be fine, but no, has to be anxiety, the thing I manage by smoking.
But, I need the money. I fucked up, and I've gotta fix it. I arrogantly listened to my ego, thought I'd figured people out. Turns out, I was wrong. The warning signs have been there for the last month but nah, I just ignored them while I had a bunch of fun digging myself a rather shallow hole to indulge in all the fun I'd never got to have.
And now it's not something as simple as my room-mates being pissed that I owe them $500 for rent that's gonna take awhile to pay back. (They're actually totally cool with it still.) it's now the fact someone I care about is at stake. It's the calm before the storm at my friends house, their dad's home and doing what he does best... 4 days and there's like, 60 empty alcohol cans between 2 people.
See I made one horrid assumption. Sister 1, who I'm closest too, is actually the fragile one. I thought she was busy trying to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders and looking after everyone else. No, I was so wrong. She's most of the way to having full blown confrontation anxiety and her sister is actually the one looking out for her. And of course, that's how I done fucked up some more. I assumed I was right about her personality and I was wrong, I focused all my attention and effort on trying to get it to sink in to sister 2 that she doesn't have to deal with that. Turns out, she knows.
So now we have sister 1 who I thought was the strong one, about ready to have a breakdown trying to hold her life and family together, And we have sister 2, who I thought was the timid one, just completely and utterly done with this shit. I dunno how that's gonna end. I've been trying to follow it to its logical conclusion and I just can't. I had it all backwards, but this is the calm before the storm so to speak. Sometime very soon some serious shit's gonna go down, I'm not worried about sister 2 at all. But, sister 1? The one that I'm closest to, who both in personality and even looks reminds me of my best friend... I'm terrified. I don't think she can take it and I know for a fact right now she's killing herself just trying to hold onto her dad while he's determined to just do whatever the fuck he wants.

And here's me. Slowly building up a larger and larger debt to my room-mates so I can have a bunch of fun and get stoned for a straight month with my friends. It'll all be good, my room-mate will get pissed at some point but that's the worst that'll happen!
Now I'm quitting smoking, even quitting buying soda so I can try and frantically pay off my room-mates then put together enough money to get a 3 bedroom house before shit goes down and someone I care about is irreparably emotionally damaged. And I now need to quit those things, my coping mechanisms, while constantly going to their house, not only seeing smokes and weed, but seeing people I care about get hurt and not say or do anything to stand up for themselves because it'd start a god damn civil war. If I wasn't such a fuckwit I'd have spent the last month saving up, I'd have 2/3rds of the savings I need to just go get a 3 bedroom house myself, then I'd just needa persuade them to move in. Instead, I'm $500 in debt, need to somehow conjur up a working phone, money for medicine, money to travel to specialists and money to get tests done constantly so I can be healthy enough to work, all while trying to put together money to get a place so people I care about have somewhere safe and stable to go before something goes down and I spend the rest of my life knowing I decided to have some fun for a month and ignore reality and that's why my friend gets to carry around some new issues the rest of her life.

I really see the appeal of being a violent uneducated jackass. It'd be so nice right now to not think about the consequences or the butterfly effect it'll have and just go kick the shit out of the guy. The people who solve problems like that always seem so happy, don't do it right, don't put thought into it, just fuck it, start punching the problem until it can't move anymore. If only...

Contact the State Police? THEY better not come back with 'not in my borders'.

But for this jurisdictional BULLSHIT: is JediJon allowed to vote in city elections? Then contact his alderman/city councillor/etc and bring this administrative JANFU to his attention to head off the problem before it makes more issues later. Also, are JJ's neighbours also 'falling through the cracks' here?

Heck, does he have to pay city or county taxes? Get that "you are not in our jurisdiction" stuff in writing and then send a lawyer with a suit for the back taxes due to 'erroneous taxation' since the LEOs state that he's not in said jurisdiction(s). "Hello." "Yeah, hi. I'd like my money back, please - I've been told by a county official I'm not IN this county, so I'd like every penny I paid TO this county in taxes back."

Heck, this kinda 'pass the buck' thing is so clearly bullshit on SOMEONE'S part that the media might enjoy shining a light on it...

(Consider even MORE people are 'sympathetically angry' on JJ's behalf :) )

Wedding Venue/chef almost killed my sister and her unborn baby, and put myself and my little sister at risk. What are they doing about it? Providing a half-assed "OOPS? Not our fault?" apology and sending a $150 cheque.

I'm sorry, I told you MONTHS ago that there were to be no nuts anywhere near the food. We wrote it on the bloody contract! What would lead you to think it would be perfectly fine to put it in the turkey stuffing and NOT tell anyone!? I am so angry over this. All my sister has to do is ask, and I will speak to a lawyer.
