I thought most of you people would enjoy partaking in this uplifting project! I know I will be
From Think Geek:

Superhero Sam Project link
"Sam is six years old. He loves turtles, frogs, and comic books, hates mint and popsicles, and he has acute myeloid leukemia.
Cancer is a horrible thing for anyone, but especially so for a story-loving kid like Sam. He has a close-knit family and extended network of friends helping him through the emotional exhaustion and physical pain that comes along with cancer and it's treatment, but being six, his grasp of the extended community rallying around him is a loose one.
That's why his mother started Superheroes for Sam: A Photo Project. She wants all of us to send Sam pictures of ourselves in superhero t-shirts to show him undisputed proof of the huge online community wishing him strength.
Help us show Sam how many people are on his team. He needs to feel the love of the geeky community. We need to show him that he can be as strong as Superman, as resilient as Batman and as brilliant as Professor X.
Here's what you have to do:
Take a photograph of yourself wearing your favorite superhero shirt, holding up your favorite action figure or comic, doing your best Stan Lee hero pose, or just smiling. Print out the picture. Put it in an envelope and mail it to Sam, here:
Sam Sommer, E571
Children's Hospital of Wisconsin
P.O. Box 1997
Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53201-1997
Sam's mom will hang our pictures on his wall, and we'll all become a part of team Superhero Sam."
Of course the offering of prayers for him in your letter is greatly appreciated for those of you who pray . Otherwise being on his superhero team letting him know your on his side, putting a smile on his face is amazing, too.

What a great idea! Do you think a 6-year-old would recognize the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? Because I've got a Pink Ranger t-shirt and an Incredibles t-shirt, so I can send him two pictures...

You can use a super hero tshirt, or simply hold an action figure or a photo of your fave hero, etc. Something that relates you to superheros to thinking about him
Instead of doing my bat buckle I might actually get posterboard and draw an outfit. Ideas! Woo!

I WAS going to take a pic of me holding Deadpool's logo up, but Zyxst had an even better (and simpler) idea;
Tomorrow, our wandering journeys will take us past a post office to get US postage and send this with a couple of heartening messages to him.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! That is fantastic!!
Even more fantastic was this posted yesterday:
"We just got the results of Sam's bone marrow biopsy.
Drum roll....
Leukemia free!
AND upon further testing to seek out the most minute amount of leukemia .... His marrow was CLEAR.
Don't get too excited - there are still three rounds of chemo to go.
But for today - we weep tears of gratitude and joy. In this moment of victory we know there is still a long road ahead of us. And I'm not a doctor.
But I think it just got a tiny bit easier.
That tiny pinprick of light?
It got a lot brighter today.
Thanks for being with us on this journey. Keep the prayers and hope and love and encouragement coming.
They are working."

So this is pretty much the worst news ever. I just heard from one of his cousins.
He has a bone marrow donor in the family, and that's great, but they're asking that people join the bone marrow registry in his honor. I'm registering now (it's now free to join the registry and to donate).
Registering is super easy, but read up on the donation process and medical requirements first.
