Thank you, Fayili. I'm not sure why or quite how, but you influence me to be less negative. And I appreciate that.

Rikadyn wrote:" The court does find a religious hatred motive in the actions of the defendants by way of them being feminists who consider men and women to be equal."
At first I just 'meh'ed at the railroading sexism and antithesis of liberty and freedom and justice...
...then I realized the above statement was from the presiding judge, Marina Syrova; if a trio of women playing anarcho-punk music in a cathedral in protest of their head of state is 'equality-based feminism' and religious hatred, then WHY IS A WOMAN HOLDING THE OFFICE OF JUDGE not similarly seen as 'religious hatred'?
*EPIC FACEPALM*

I am pretty sure there is a "not" missing in that sentence, otherwise we are in deep trouble there.
I read the context to that quote in the Guardian and it is an impressive feat of twisted logic. The idea that something is accepted by society which at the same time is offensive to a certain religion is nothing new. The only new thing here is the level it is taken to.

Having read the closing statements of the band members this morning, I have a tremendous amount of sympathy for these women, and it serves as another opportunity for me to rethink my life.

Yeah, I was a) suffering from a head cold (still am), b) starting to become late for work, and c) apoplectic with indignation over the hypocrisy (I didn't think anything of the 'you're guilty because you're a feminist' quote here at the time because I didn't know the gender of the judge; when I saw HER name and some personal pronouns referring to HER in another article about the sham, I...well, I got a little worked up.

Just wanted to apologize for insulting Wraith. It was uncalled for.
