Cootch. It's not funny, I just like the word. Cootch. Cootch. Cooootch.

My mom says Vahoo-haa-haa and it always made me laugh because she can't stand the word vagina.

My very Slovakian grandmother used to say "cratch-ca". Which just sounds angry

metcarfre wrote:I initially just pointed out that Wraith made a mistake in his reading of the article, that's all.

You realize I can still see what you wrote, right?

Seriously, you get on my case for laughing at the words "Pussy Riot" because it relates to a serious issue and then you crack jokes about homosexual oppression in Russia. If that's not hypocrisy, I don't know what is.

metcarfre wrote:Well, technically, I did both.

Something being named as a euphemism for the female genetalia isn't straight up funny to me, most of the time, I guess.

Yea, me either. The fact that said euphemism is attached to the word "riot" and then printed in the headline of a major national newspaper is funny.

metcarfre wrote:And, when I called Wraith an asshole, it was in response to his assholerie towards Alex, specifically.

Which itself was in response to Alex's assholery towards myself.

AlexanderDitto wrote: I just pointed out the word pussy, on its own, isn't really that funny, and it's kind of juvenile to laugh every time mentions a synonym for vagina. And I got called pretentious and a douchebag for it! But, it's all cool, no big deal.

Once again: someone saying pussy = not funny. National newspaper featuring headline saying Pussy RIOT = funny as hell. Because you don't expect to see the word Pussy there, let alone "Pussy Riot."

The fact that you didn't think it funny is fine. The fact that you found me laughing about it so fucking objectionable that you had to come in here, look down your snobby little nose at me and point out how very juvenile I am; THAT makes you a pretentious douche-bag.

Further, I might point out that I didn't originally call you a pretentious Douche-bag. I actually called you a pretentious adult. It was a play on you calling me a grown adult. It was you who later said pretentious douche-bag. I simply mirrored you.

AlexanderDitto wrote: Here! Allow me to display my comedy prowess. This should have us all in stitches for the rest of the day: Cunt. Vag. Twat. Pussy. Lady... parts?

OH! I get it. Because...because that article I pointed out said pussy, so clearly I'm just laughing at that word. And you, well you're just so fucking cultured and intellectual and above laughing at such peasant humor.

Man. I sure was wrong about you being pretentious.

But wait! What's that I hear? They're doing another Blue Collar comedy tour? Quickly man! Your talents are needed! Go! For the good of western civilization! GO!

Wraith, for fucks sake, THIS IS EXACTLY what we've talked about.

It doesn't matter who you think is the one being as ass, you're the one who consistently reacts harshly and angrily, and makes threads uncomfortable and upsetting.

You feel Alex was rude to you, fine. Do not escalate it by lashing back with such anger, just reply to him. People on the forum bicker back and forth constantly, but whenever you're involved it escalates out of hand because you take it so personally and get so angry with them.
Can you please try to meter your responses?

Here's the thing: I've taken flack lately because supposedly the only time I post is to start shit. So I've made an effort not to do that. To just post things that I thought were funny. I saw "Pussy Riot" in USA Today and I found that funny. I wasn't responding to anyone, I didn't say anything to anyone, I just pointed out something was funny.

Still took shit. I even tried responded to that first poke with the most inoffensive, humor I could muster.

Wraith wrote:I know. Completely serious. Nothing funny about the Pussy Riots. The Pussy riots are serious business. I pray we never experience anything like the Pussy riots over here.

Still took shit. So yea, I got a little sarcastic with Ditto. Right after that? Right back to joking. Trying to just roll with it. Of the course of this thread, most of my posts have been jokes. Simple humor. When someone brought up an interesting point (the 100 year ban) I discussed it. The only time I said anything aggressive was in response to other people who were starting shit.

And no, I'm not saying "woe-is-me, I'm getting picked on." I don't care; I just respond in kind. I'm saying people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I'm saying that I give better than I get, and people who don't want to "get" shouldn't give. I'm saying I tried just doing something funny, and the dude came and poked me with a stick. How the hell was that necessary? So I responded. Yea, I responded sarcastically, but you can't tell me that Ditto didn't know I would. This isn't his first day on the forums. He knew damn well I was going to respond and he still had to get his snide little jab in.

And for the record, you know Matt's old signature "I'm not mad at you" ? That's pretty much me. I'm a sarcastic person. Me responding sarcastically to something someone said doesn't mean I take it personally. It means I feel like that was a dick move and it shouldn't go unchallenged. Afterwards, I'm perfectly find with just walking away and letting that be the end of it; so long as everyone else.

Wraith wrote:I'm saying that I give better than I get...

Yes, this is the problem. That is called "escalation".

You can give as good as you get, or if you'd like to be the bigger man for once you can even give less than you get and leave those that rile you (for whatever reason) without the validation. Neither of those options lead to escalation and things stay pretty nice and chill and enjoyable. Relatively, at least.

Wraith wrote:Yea, I responded sarcastically, but you can't tell me that Ditto didn't know I would. This isn't his first day on the forums. He knew damn well I was going to respond and he still had to get his snide little jab in.

Irrelevant. It doesn't matter if the person you're yelling it as a seasoned veteran of the forums or a newbie, your behaviour is escalation of hostilities, pure and simple.

Dude, you don't get to walk up to some mean looking dude in a bar, open-hand slap him in the face, and then demand that he respond with exactly the same amount of force. If you don't want to walk out of there missing teeth, the trick is to just not smack the mean looking dude in the first place.

Old 90's saying: don't start none, won't be none.
