It's Rainin' Sideways!
So this is happening... Anyone else living through Hurricane Sandy at the moment?
So far, Ocean City, Maryland has had its entire pier destroyed, and pictures from Atlantic City, New Jersey show that the water is past one floor, working on the second.
And of course, there's me doing work... One of the disadvantages of working at home.

Yep, Tropical Storm SAndy is in full force here. I just saw a tree bend back from being sideways and the roads are like mini rivers.
I am finally home and have commenced pantless drinking.

I'm in Philly. It's wet and windy, but not all that bad yet. I'm holed up indoors, though.

Its great especially outside DB when theres about 50 instead of 500. Great place to vent and whatnot
However, whilst I'm safe, I just found out my sister has no power and her area has been declared a disaster area
A couple aunts and grandmother are either evac'd from georgia or spending the night in a casino. Least they're alive
@Alex, not sure the location of phili to warminster, though I think its a couple hours west of you is where my sister is so you might be next

We recently had an excessively British version of this:
I was marooned in my village for 3 days, my poor little rusty 1.3 would have drowned if I'd tried to drive him through that

Re: It's Rainin' Sideways!
Not hit us yet, but it's coming in. Expected to be full force around Wednesday. So far it's just been raining for the past week straight.
We're supposed to just get more rain since it'll be a huge mass of wet air that's going to encounter a low-pressure system and drop all of it on us. Here's hoping classes are cancelled, because I don't really want to run the risk of riding the bus/walking in these conditions.

So far, it's just a lot of rain, but the high winds are incoming.
Apparently, it's only going to get worse: The state closed all the liquor stores early.

Re: It's Rainin' Sideways!
I keep encouraging people who are worried about not having their survival kits sorted to get drunk and go outside and yell at the storm. Does that make me a bad person?
Re: It's Rainin' Sideways!
No, it eliminates the portion of people who have had time enough to prep a kit and instead have booze.

Re: It's Rainin' Sideways!
Philly report: It's totally dark out now. Wind gusts are picking up, just had a super big one, the tree outside my window is dancing. Hoping it doesn't fall over/smash through my windows. It's not raining anymore, though, which is odd/good. Less rain means less saturated ground which means tree roots hold on better. I think the stronger rain/winds are currently south of us. We may still get hit, it's unclear.
If you're flying into the east coast, hurricanes only last a few days in any given area. The remnants of the storm will be past Chicago up into Canada by next week, if it hasn't totally dissipated. You don't have anything to worry about.
