What the Forums Need

Postby DSmaster21 » 26 Feb 2013, 16:41

This for stuff you think needs to be added to the forums. I will occasionally quote a group of you and summarize some of the latest ideas. If I did not include you it is not because your idea is bad, it is mainly because I don't want the summaries to take up too much space and so I am choosing those that really strike me. Also some posts have been quite humorous and may be added to summaries however these will later be removed. If your quote disappears and you were serious or you would like to be featured but weren't please private message me.

Idea #1: a mortal enemy setting so that your MEs text shows up in red or something because a foe is like a blocked user whereas a mortal enemy is someone that you and they like to mess with each other, like a best friend.

Oh so like a Kismesis? I am against the forums incorporating Quadrants. That shit gets messy.

Puppies.

I mean, I don't know how that would work, but seriously. Puppies. I mean, come on.

I think we need a Coaster Thread. Not sure if it should be in games or general.

Ys, it can also include drinks' coasters.

I think we need some sort of Hijack thread, something where people talk about random shit and change topic as often as is funny perhaps involving numerous references to fire...... Oh I see, so I'm not your enemy now, is that it?

What if, like, the forum volume knob, rather than going up to and stopping at 10, it went up to 11? So like, other forums are only rocking at 10, while we're the only ones up there at that level, rocking at 11?

The last time there was a joke war it involved Lyinginbedmon and myself (twice) and it did annoy the forum. It became a forum member's signature.

What if you're forum posts are automatically sent to your Facebook without any context. It'd make the Hijack thread more interesting.

The forum obviously needs an emergency eject button. When you don't like being part of a thread, you can hit it, and all of your posts vanish from that thread.

A stalk feature would be nice. There would be a button under each member's avatar that let's you see when they've posted right after you on a thread or if they've posted a pic in the "Pics of yourself" thread. Not that I would use it of course.

I have an idea for a "feature". Could we make it so that anyone with less than 'x' amount of posts cannot start their own thread? That would help with spam, right?

Something similar has been posted before. I think such a system would only make things harder rather than easier, since bots would just spam posts instead of threads, making them more difficult to spot.

Plus some users hit the ground running and create a thread in their first 50 posts that goes on to be a 5 page discussion.

I'd like to see an up-vote-only karma system
everyone gets an additional point to use each day, and can spend their karma to upvote others, or something. In addition, a "best-ranked posts" list would be useful with this feature.

not that it's needed. I just like on other forums having the ability to "thank user for this post" without resorting to QFT.
