Thank You for Strip Search
Thank You for Strip Search
2 years ago my wife was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. This disease attacks your nervous system and makes everything you do significantly harder. In the winter, it is a battle every morning just for her to get out of bed. Her fibro also reacts really strongly to stress, which her job has alot of. Because of all this, fun creative activities that require alot of mental focus just lost all their appeal.
Before her diagnosis, she was a very talented artist, and she loved to draw. She had so many creative projects she wanted to do, but with her sickness she just couldn't muster up the energy. I don't think she had picked up a sketchbook or pencil in almost a full year. Then she saw strip search.
Over the past few years I have shown her various LRR videos from all the different series. I even got her to come with me to the Escapist Expo just to see Graham and Paul in person. So naturally, after falling in love with Strip Search myself, I decided to show it to her. She was instantly hooked. We watched the first four episodes back to back (which is a big deal for her), and the next day she dug in to each artist's backstory, blog, website, etc. After the duck episode, where the prize was a drawing tablet, she remarked that she would really like to have a drawing tablet. Over the next few days, she kept talking about it, and started to rediscover all the creative ideas she had abandoned. She talked her dad in to buying her a pretty basic bamboo tablet, and it has completely consumed her. For the past two weeks, it is like i'm living with a different person. She is more excited, has more energy, and is on fire about her artwork. We're talking about starting a webcomic together, she's already designed a logo for my ministry (I'm a youth pastor), and she hasn't slowed down a bit.
So, sorry for the wall of text, but it has meant so much to me these past few weeks to see her this happy again. Thank you for reintroducing my wife to one of her greatest passions. I know penny arcade created the show, but she would not have invested in it without LRR's involvement. Thank you so much.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support.
I tried to post in the PA forums, but I cannot figure out where in the world I would do such a thing. If someone else could handle it for me and send me the link, I'll reply to the topic.

One of my good friends has Fibro, and it (in no light terms) is a cruel mistress. I love hearing stories like this! =D

You should definitely give us an update if that webcomic ever becomes a thing.

@Aydin225
That's fantastic!
I sometimes treat patients who have fibromyalgia and it's indeed a rough thing to have. Three cheers for your wife, yourself and the show!

We just purchased my wife a manga software, and she has not slowed down one bit, so that may actually end up becoming a thing indeed
I also wanted to pop back in and share that a few nights ago we finally sat down and watch the strip search panel from PAX east. At the part where Mike started talking about how watching these artists passion reinspired him, my wife turned to me and with no irony at all said "that's exactly what happened to me too!"

Seriously though, give your wife all my love. You can keep some for yourself if you must, but that's on you.
