Where did you hear about LRR?

Postby Kara » 19 Sep 2006, 18:33

Okay, so upon glancing at some of the members, I've come to realization that most people aren't from Canada, let alone Victoria. So here I just want people to list where they heard about LRR and even perhaps what the first video they watched was.

I heard about it from Kei-Kon last year, where I also watched the 1337 video (I believe it was during Filerama).

What about you guys?

Well I AM in Victoria, but I found LRR through a link from the kei-kon website a couple of kei-kon's ago. I started really watching after they did the first kei-kon video, from Kei-kon 2004. Wow, I just said kei-kon way too many times.

Anyways, now I'm hooked and that's all that matters right??!!! Right???!!!

I knew Graham from elementary school and I ran in to him on the bus where he gave me a LoadingReadyRun business card.

It's Tapir12's fault. Can't remember what the first video she showed me was - just stuck me in front of a computer one day (was it in high school?) and said "You're watching these."

Aaaand here I am.

Kathleen and I met Graham at a CUP conference in Edmonton, and he told us we had to check out the site, or he would steal our firstborn children.

True story.
"I swear it," said the other mother. "I swear it on my own mother's grave."

"Does she have a grave?" asked Coraline.

"Oh yes," said the other mother. "I put her in there myself. And when I found her trying to crawl out, I put her back."

After a two year absence from the Dumbrella Forums my return was heralded by rioting, which I sometimes pretend makes me special instead of just near-universaly hated. Just so happens that Kathleen and Graham post there as well, and Kathleen sent me a super nice, very understanding PM; so I wanted to see if she had a live journal or something, and her profile linked me here.

I heard about the site indirectly from Dave Barry (the writer). I subscribe to his blog and he had two links: One to the official Talk like a Pirate site and one to the video on this site (How to Talk Like a Pirate). I loved the video and went to investigate the site.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Someone posted it to me on my myspace comment area. I watched the 1337 vid and thought "Never have I seen such *"shmex" guys in crappy jumpsuit/prison wear before rapping about video game history."

*I actually did the finger quotations.

Downloaded 1337 when it was being hosted by xfire. Figured there must be more of it out there.

I was also at Kei-Kon last time and these guys with a camera asked us cosplayers to do little interviews after the contest. Well being a girl who never met a camera she didn't like I had to do it (even though my boyfriend was waiting for me and kara in the truck and slipping further and further towards a diabetic coma). On the friday I went to LRR to watch the vid...and I never stopped....

Ps. Gibb why won't you return my calls? Stop letting Graham controll you like you were his puppet.

Pps. Yes my boyfriend is still alive...on the outside anyways.

Applegeeks IRC channel, someone posted a link to the 1337 video that had been posted on some other site. I traced it back to Loadingreadyrun.com (probably because it said so in the end)

Graham played Space Quest 6 in my house once. Where things went from there, only the sky knows the limit.

Saw 1337 on Xfire (which was strange, because that was the first (and only) time I'd EVER looked at an Xfire link O_o.
Then I came here and watched.
I started last year about a few days before Christmas Carolling on Halloween came out. The video right before I started was How to Trick or Treat (or whatever it was caled) with Paul.
