This photo is just so terribly well timed.

Yes, the composition of this shot is pretty amazing, especially considering that it's purely by accident. It almost seems like one of those staged photos in basic communication/psychology courses where you explore what each person is thinking, except it's obviously not.

For range of action and thought:
- Kathleen is caught mid-grab for the hourglass in the most active and assertive pose.
- Graham's fiddling with the ipad looks to be 50% thought and 50% action.
- James looks passive and completely lost in his own thoughts.

For range of emotions:
- Kathleen has what looks like the beginning of a smirk on her face.
- Graham looks professional and neutral.
- James looks depressed.

And then there's Paul, the only person whose focus of attention is clearly not within the frame. The expression on his face is a mix of surprise, interest, and puzzlement, all of them in balance so you're not quite sure what he's feeling or what he's going to do next. Just slightly shift your focus from his eyebrows to his mouth or his eyes and you'll get a different emotion.
