Pacific Rim anyone?
Pacific Rim anyone?
Did anyone else go see this? I saw it in NormalView(tm) and loved it. Going to go back in a couple of weeks and watch it in IMAX 3D.
Kinda disheartening there's not even a thread on it. Is the movie really tanking that badly? Where in the world did all the marketing budget go?

Re: Pacific Rim anyone?
I saw it on release without 3D. I loved it but lost a bit of faith in humanity when I heard grown ups 2 beat it out no problem.
For some reason I kept thinking of stupid one liners whilst watching it. My 2 personal favorites were: When Gypsy lost a sword arm, so they used the other, I thought, "And God blessed us with a spare!!! *stab*." The other was when gypsy finally got into the 2 Kaiju fight I thought, "Oh there was some misunderstanding. This isn't a fight, it's an asswhooping, you just happen to be present."

SO GOOD.
I mean, it won't be for everyone. But for me. SO GOOD

Probably because it was that kind of movie. Cheesy one-liners are not only appropriate, but highly desirable.

I didn't even watch The Avengers twice in theatres, or in 3D, but for Pacific Rim, I will.

I LOVED this movie. However,
helicopters flying in a heart formation over the couple at the end of the film? Really? Haha.

My twitter sized review of the movie was - "Pacific Rim is the movie that Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay would have made if they *had talent* and *could make really good movies*."
Re: Pacific Rim anyone?
That bit where Raleigh shouts "We'll do this! Together!", and Gypsy goes into a crouching position with the sword before launching itself forwards?

Well if nothing else, the CGI has had another 15 years of development on the last film

It is 00 Raiser PG. I just don't have all of the accessories on him because he'd take about twice as much space then.
I'm also working on a collection of RX-78 Mk.2 models. I currently have a MG, an RG, and a high-complete from the '80s.

Loved it myself. Lot of fun, but part of me still wishes that Guillermo del Toro had the opportunity to make "At the Mountains of Madness" instead.

Really enjoyed it. Need to write up my review of it. Thinking of going to see it a second time.

Re: Pacific Rim anyone?
It was SO GOOD. It somehow managed to combine all the tropes of Japanese mecha anime, American blockbuster movies and Power Rangers into two hours of straight-up awesome, and never once seemed ashamed of its genre.
Wanna see it again.
