Actually Hosk, just realised something; your post over on the LRRCast thread said that the remaining money would go to charities of the great-uncle's choosing, not yours. Did I miss something?

$250K for a mansion on the beach in Malibu.
$150K for a 5BR suite at the Waldorf in NYC x x# of LRRites
$6.5K /2BR suite in Las Vegas City Center x x#of LRRites

Fly all interested LRRites to and between locations on private jets. (A230-900s, to cover the Aussies, too.) for a massive month long party.

Massive party in NYC, buying out a week of shows of Newsies for Rocket and Wraith. ;) A different broadway show bought out each night for private attendance.

On to Las Vegas for gambling and debauchery. (spend the 5% on gambling) Buy out a different Cirque show every night for private showings, then Rent out a different club every night for a week.

End the month long party in Malibu relaxing on the beach with everyone having a personal masseuse, scuba/surfing lessons.

Of course, the whole trip would include food, booze, and wardrobe w/ accessories and personal shoppers. (Wardrobe to be donated after each use.) Also... one would have to, of course, cover the salaries of various LRRites since you're taking them from their jobs for a month.

Is that doing it right?

...um, you do know the $677mil is the PRIZE you get if you spend $65mil in 30 days, right?

Methinks you're going a little overkill there - but nonetheless an admirable plan that can easily be scaled back to applicable limits. :D

Those rental rates are per month, not per night... but still. Just making a point that it could be easily done.

In the movie, the uncle had preselected the charities, when I created this thread I decided to let you choose.

if you waste the 65 million in 30 days you get 650,000,000 not 677 million. If you choose to take the 2.7 the remaining 677.2 (the remainder after the evil law firm takes its cut) is donated to charity.

I WOULD LOSE MY MIND.

Although it should be noted that would be torture for Wraith, not because of the show but because he doesn't actually fit in the Nederlander. ;) Would you mind hiring Jeremy Jordan and Andrew Keenan-Bolger back that week? =D

I presume buying a nation's debt counts as assets? Then I think I'd just fund areas of science that I want to see developed. Not charity, like educating or donating money/assets to schools (though I'd do that in a heartbeat) but still beneficial.

The trick is you have to fund something that is both selfish, non-destructive, and entirely ephemeral.

Which basically means the only thing you can buy are experiences.

I wonder how much it would cost to hire every person in, say, Switzerland to do the cha-cha slide for an hour? Like, you offer the biggest companies in Switzerland $65 million if they put out an announcement that for an hour every one of their employees must cease working and instead do the cha-cha slide?

I would rent the entire New York Subway system for a day, and make it a citywide party-train. Much funs would be had.

Am I correct in recalled a news story about one's ability to essentially rent the entire nation of Liechtenstein? I think that might put a good dent in money. That, and renting a room in the penthouse suite in every 5 star hotel in the world.

I would say that you could only rent the rooms if you and or your hired staff were going to be staying in them.

hmmm...hotel rooms...massive number would need a massive number of employees to occupy them. But what could I have them DO?

Image

I wonder if I could coordinate a global hotel review - get the stays completed, the reviews written, everything edited together, and then published within the 30-day timeframe...oh. If I made the "hotel review omnibus" available gratis, would that be considered 'charity'?

That one is more tricky.

Hell, make it a free website review place through wordpress.

See, that's what I was leaning towards - a publicly-accessible website. The only catch would be to keep it going; something like wordpress will host a blog for you gratis (I've got two, myself), but I dunno if they'd swallow the expense of something THAT big...

hey, no one said the site had to get a lot of views, or the reviews be particularly long. In fact, in order to speed things along, I think the reviews should be a single sentence, or maybe ever a single word.
