Cavalry is being played by Ming-Na. She was in Spirits Within, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan, Mulan, Street Fighter (1994) and Stargate Universe; among others.

The speed of the plane bit is a comment made to say "its a TV show, sometimes we do things at the pace we need them to be, not the pace that makes sense in reality" I think Joss used it in reference to the speed of a firefly class transport ship.

We don't know that it was a text message; it's more likely that she was using the plane's satellite wi-fi (what kind of mobile command center wouldn't have satellite wi-fi, after all?). So now we're asked to accept that she can do this without SHIELD's knowledge, which more or less gibes with what we know about her so far.

Ah, but did she do her little trick without SHIELD's knowledge? Maybe that's the reason for Fury's concern about Skye¹ - their SIGINT flagged her comms? That would play in with the 'Coulson playing a long con on her to get through her at the truly evil contacts she doesn't even know she has'...which I've totally bought, ever since that One-Shot.

Footnotes:

1 - come on, people; I have a horrible memory for names, and I know the hacktivist's name is "Skye" (which we've been hinted pretty strongly isn't her REAL name), Generic McHandsome-Hero is Agent Grant Ward (not sure which is first or last tho ;) ), the 'bus driver' is Agent Melinda "The Cavalry" May², and Simmons is the biology chick, and Fitz is the engineer dude.

2 - and shame on you for not recognizing Ming-Na Wen: she IS Mulan, she's also the best Chun-Li I've yet to see, she was in The Joy Luck Club, she was also in this little niche TV show called E.R....for ONE HUNDRED EIGHTEEN EPISODES!

Oh, and just in case all those references are too 'old history' for you, she also voices Finn's MOM, ya little ankle-biters!

Coulson was on the lost island, thats why he must never know, if you know you are there you will just kill yourself because it isnt going to make sense anyways.

Better than the pilot, still needs to work harder, be less generic, but better.

Whedon often takes a while to find what a show needs to be. Just look at Buffy and Angel, they took at least a season each to get going.

Hoping that the show continues to improve.

I agree on Buffy it took awhile, people look at firefly and think it was only 13 episodes and each one was gold, but that was lightning in a bottle and that show had Nathan Fillion who made it his place to make sure the cast and crew were one one team working together, it didnt matter if you were onset team, back stage team, on screen team, it was all team firefly. First day on set he said something to the effect of "the one who knows the most peoples names is the winner, that's Bob, that's Paul that's Joss, that's Alan I'm winning!"

Though even Firefly's pilot was, in my opinion, not great compared to most of the other episodes.

the pilot got heavily reworked because fox didnt like it, Joss always said it ended up with so many changes that it didnt make anyone happy, it wasnt fast passed enough for fox and didnt have enough back story and character development for him, and since it started his way and started moving fox way it really lost focus.

So clearly the solution is to replace Agent Ward with Nathan Fillion.

Not Nathan Fillion playing a SHIELD agent, Nathan Fillion as Nathan Fillion.

just the actor nathan fillion, gets recruited into shield because they figured he had the right level of geek following that anyone who lached onto it would think he as just filming something. PERFECT.

That would be amazing.
On the other hand, I'm really disappointed they got Samuel L. Jackson on a plane and there was no shout-outs to Fucking Snakes.
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

Anyone know how an Australian can watch this online legally? All sources they list on their site were region locked.

Wait... *checks IMDb*

Well, it lists the show as having been released in Australia back on 2 Oct...just a sec...

Huh, 7 Network...that does offer streaming...but not Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Naturally. :(

Oh, of course - they don't even host their own website; they pay Yahoo! to do it!

Sorry, man...I wonder if the use of a proxy server is illegal?

I hate when there is no legal way to do something completely reasonable.

My power went out while I was recording a TV show on a network station, but they dont show repeats, how can I watch the show?

You can buy the DVD in three years when it comes out, or hope to catch it in reruns. (well im not doing those, anything else?) NO! and you better not watch a copy you downloaded off the internet THATS STEALING!

And the only reason region-locking even occurs is because of $$$ agreements between already obscenely profitable media corporations...

Yeah that seems like my only option. So yeah, this is the reason Australia is one of the biggest pirating countries in the world....
