What's On Your Headstone?

Postby JustAName » 02 Nov 2013, 18:47

My roommate and I were discussing this idea recently, since we live close to a cemetery (it is, unfortunately, gated and also a military cemetery so not as picturesque as some). Barring the fact that neither of us will probably have headstones since there are much cooler things to do with bodies than bury them, our general ideas were:

Me: [Name and other standard stuff] "PICNICKERS ETC. WELCOME" I like this idea because, frankly, cemeteries can be cool places to hang out, but it's nice to know that the person upon whose grave you're partying/reading/whatever would be cool with it.

Hers was: "GOTHS WELCOME" because she likes the idea of a lot of goths taking really cheesy/happy pictures with her headstone.

What about you guys? Somber? Friendly? Tongue-in-cheek?

I'd like to think I'd have something funny on my headstone, but I don't really know what it would be.

Feed Dump episode I thought was relevant wasn't relevant. Can't find the one I was thinking of.

I want my name in huge writing. Massive. And then I want in tiny writing, barely noticeable so you have to lean in close to read it:

You're standing on my balls.

"There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the shadow was only a small and passing thing: There was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach." -JRR Tolkein

My name can probably be fitted around that somewhere

And there'll be a little slot.

You are not dead. Well done.

I don't know why I thought that was going to go well.

I foresaw your death last night.

My roomamte donated to a kickstarter game and one of his rewards, he got to create a tombstone in the game. He used a running joke from our D&D games as he figured they would make pretty good famous last words.
