Just stopping by here to say that me and my better half are going to be going all 4 days. We can't help with any ticket or hotel woes, but we look forward to getting together and meeting you guys! If you went to LRRCon, I was there but not super social.

Check Airbnb. Honestly, most apartments downtown are small, unless you count the super expensive ones that the owners aren't likely to rent out.

Also, "near the convention center" is relative. I live really close - at 7 blocks away. No, I do not have room for 4 people.

So, has anyone here attend a PAX in a wheelchair before? My first foot surgery (there's a whole series!) is going to be right before PAX. While I will have a boot and can walk, the doctor isn't so sure I'll be able to walk for the entire con, and he wants me in a wheelchair. Yes, I've applied for a medical badge, but I'm wondering how much use it will really be. Thoughts?

No, I will not sell you my tickets. Sorry. This is the one fun thing we do each year.

I didnt use a wheelchair but I had to almost fight people to not give me extra access and help when they saw the medical badge.

They give you access to back area and elevators half an hour before the show floor opens so you dont have to wait standing in the crowd. Every enforcer I encountered was super accommodating as were the other attendees.

While I dont need nearly as much help as some people do, being in the tight confines of a crowded line could be too much for me especially after a couple of days and I never had any trouble going to the back of the line and being like "hey, im going to sit in the corner if you could just flag me down when you go in, and ill hop in line here"

You can use the medical badge as much or as little as you need to and I dont think anyone enforcer, attendee or panelist has any problem being polite and helpful.

Also, I recommend you use the wheel chair for the first couple of days, if you dont need it, dont use it for the rest of the event, but better not to push yourself day one because you think you can, and then be in the wheel chair but exhausted and in pain because you pushed too hard.
