Kid and I were already planning on it, I thought.

We're just trying to see if we can all go together in one vehicle.

Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)
Since I have no idea how many actually are planning to show up. I've set up a RSVP form (here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1QIweye ... =send_form )
I've looked a bit at what it would cost to book a meeting room at a hotel. If we are more than 10, that could be an option.

Once idea could be to end up at a gaming-themed bar of some variety. Just foind this one on a quick search: http://www.thrillist.com/drink/san-fran ... er-in-soma

Most of the gaming themed bars I found in my quick search were like Dave and Buster's, arcade style, but if someone can find something more appropriate I'm all for it.

It looks like we're about 8 people.
Preliminary I say we meet up at Borderlands Cafe (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Borde ... febc243269)
at 1pm.

That place is where I found my signed edition of Neverwhere! It's also right near a really cool life science shop, and lots of eateries and stuff to do in the Mission, so good choice.
Also turns out one of my regular Saturday jobs is cancelled that day so I won't have to be late, double sweet.
Getting excited to see y'all!

Wow, that is quite cool. I've never been there, but I have walked by a couple of times and it looked large enough on the images i could find on the internet.

Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)
I should have a bit of extra time, I can do a quick map up of interesting foods/bars/places to shop around that area, if y'all are interested. Of course, let me know of any restrictions (food, drink, or otherwise) or things of particular interest (certain cuisine or shop or whatnot) so that I can try my best to align matches to the majority of the group. Oh, and how far y'all are willing to travel! 'Cause I know a place a couple of us want to go but it's in RWC (we might do that a different night).

Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)
That would be excellent. I was thinking about going to SF and look around a bit, but I'm not sure I have the time this weekend.
I have nothing against going to RWC since it is closer to home for me, at least we could leave it open as an option or save it for the next meetup (If things don't turn up too awkward in the first one )
I'll eat anything but I'm a bit picky when it comes to meat and prefer vegetarian

Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)
I have constructed a map! It is quite usefully linked right here.
Legend is included.
Notes on the map:
Anyone taking public transit, which I heartily recommend, I suggest using 511.org's transit trip planner. Gives you the fare amount, time, walking distance, and options. It's super useful.
Yelped restaurants and bars were subjected to a Walking Distance (1 mile) search, Highest Rated, Good for Groups, and only $ and $$ selected. I picked a few that I thought looked good and tried to select places with vegetarian (vegan and gluten-free if possible) options.
Almost all of the stores I have been to/looked through the window at myself, and I can verify their goodness. (At least by my definition of "good".)
Click on any item to find a link to more information about that item.
There's also a bunch of vintage and clothing boutiques that I love but I left off the list. I can add them if requested though!
Personally, I'd love to go to Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, mostly for the name, but that's just me. Also Paxton Gate is pretty much a Must-See, and I adore Currents. And Curry Up Now and Creme Brulee Cart (shop thing) are good old standbys for me, I am always down for those two.
If you don't like the selection or want something specific or even just meander around Yelp and find something awesome yourself, suggest it!
There's a couple other places I know one of the out-of-towners wants to go, but they aren't in the city or not open on Saturday, so I omitted them. We're gonna hit up those places though, so if y'all are interested let me know.

That is some good stuff. I haven't decided yet if going to a sex store with a group of people one has just met is fun or awkward but I generally approve of all the things on the list.

I was just picking stuff I liked, I was thinking we'd go with the consensus method of places to see.

Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)
ooOOooo. Less than a week now.
I will probably take BART and jump off at 24th (or 16th if i'm feeling brave) and walk to Borderlands.
Also, to avoid social anxiety fear factor scenarios, dress as casual as you want and there will not be any mandatory joke telling.

I hope you guys have fun! I only now realised that on the 16th, I'll be in Oregon for the weekend for a barbecue that has been planned for months. Oops! Well, I hadn't checked myself as going since I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it, so it shouldn't affect the expected numbers. Still, let us know how it went!
Check out my webcomic, The Meddlers! (Currently not updating)

Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)
I will at least attempt to chronicle any shenanigans, but I am easily distracted and forgetful. I'll be taking Bart as well, and I'm starting to get rather excited. Just a few days!
Is there anything I should bring? Limited to these options: self printed CAH, normal playing cards, cookies or brownies (homemade of course), Scrabble, cribbage board.
Also, I would recommend everyone bring cash if possible, to make it easier to split bills or if we pick a restaurant that's cash only. Just a precaution!

Since I only just noticed that OP editied the top post with details, I'm posting them here to ensure other people are also aware (and get email notifications for it):

Edit: Above link didn't work for me. Try: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Borde ... febc243269

I'm pretty sure that all info I've updated in top post have been posted in the thread as well at some point. But there is no harm in posting it again.
I will bring gloom, munchkin and pen and paper if we want to play mafia or something similar.

I'll bring Fiasco, though I'm not sure if that's the best game for a public place (done right, it's like playing CaH in public)

Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)
It occurs to me I have a card game called Gother Than Thou, which is as ridiculous as it sounds. I'll definitely bring it!
I think we said 1pm and noon at various points. I'll try to make it by noon in case anyone else is early. I have a Maleficent purse that I'll set on the table so I'm easily identifiable, and I'll be wearing my DB7 shirt!

I was going to bring Slash, but I forgot. It sounds like we have more than enough games, though!
Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)

Re: Bay Area LRR Appreciators August Meetup (BALRRAAM)
I'm finally home, safe, sound and no signs of scurvy.
I had heaps of fun despite my distracting headache that came and went a couple of times during the day. I hope you got some good creme brûlée after I left.
