I really enjoy "The Americans". Be aware that it's incredibly dark and has a lot of moral ambiguity. The main characters being Russian spies mean they do awful things and you still kind of empathize with them.

Poor James van der Beek?
Sorry, but I don't think he would get casted for anything better.

It's a fair point, (and that gif still makes me giggle) but after seeing him in 'Apartment 23' and that power rangers fan movie, I think he's ok

Like Bruce Campbell, but small screen

They arnt all trying to be eachother.

Picking up where I left off with Mad Men tonight... that's seasons six and seven to go. It's an amazing show, don't remember why I stopped watching in the first place.

I am also watching Mad Men but I am only at the start of the third season. The 'It was a different time' count is off the chart compared with Magnum PI.

Haha, yea. Mad Men is basically "It was a different time" the show. I got through three seasons but then kind of fell out of it.

Yeah, I never got past the third season either. Once you get over the "it was a different time" novelty the show, while still clever, is significantly less interesting.

Beginning with season four it becomes about how the main characters can't keep up with themselves, and eventually with the times. I think the show's low point was season five, probably why I took a hiatus from the thing. I'm back with six and re-loving it all over again.

Finished Mad Men's season six, just watched the first episode of season seven. Dear god it's fucking depressing. Why am I doing this to myself?

If anybody's been keeping up with season 7, can anybody tell me - without spoilers, please - if the show gets just a little cheery eventually? Do we get over the whole sadsack routine, just a little? Please?

Anybody else's excited about true detective's new season?
I can't wait!
Appart from that all the shows I enjoy to watch haven't started yet... I also wanna see what happens in The Affair after the first season.
Would any of you care to recommend me a series to watch 'til those two start again?
I enjoy mini-series with clever stories and thrillers.
(Also, I've watched GoT until the last season when I kind of got bored of it.)

It's not what you'd really call "television" but I finally got to watching "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" today. I really liked it! :) I didn't quite get the extreme hype around it at the time, until I was informed of the cultural context in which it came out. In any case, I thought it was good, and Dr. Horrible is my new role model. I want to aspire to be like him. :)

With something like Dr Horrible, context is so much.

If you have a chance, check out Commentary! The Musical. Just as a bit of a lark.

Just discovered that Mark Hamil who was playing the Trickster in The Flash actually played Trickster in the 1990s flash series.

Bit of a quite period for me.
Lots of my favorite shows ended their seasons.

Still, cant complain. Person of Interest got renewed. And Flash. And DareDevil. And Agent Carter.

TV's pretty much made for me right now

Second.
Best commentary track ever. Easily worth the price of the DVD alone.

So, House of Cards.

It has more or less entirely abandoned its original premise to become a West Wing knockoff running on Kevin Spacey's charisma alone. Fortunately, Spacey's charisma holds up for the time being.

Also, I don't get why Frank Underwood is portrayed as this conniving mastermind. All he's done is recreate the achievements of Gerald R. Ford.
It's all over but the crying. And the taxes.

I know it's not up to date, but lately I've been catching up on seasons 4 - 6 of Community.

Mostly it's making me happily revisit seasons 1 - 3 of Community. Take the Dungeons and Dragons episode in season 5 for example. It's just not even a patch on the D&D episode from season 2.
