Penguin's facial expression at the bar in this week's Gotham were great.

Stopped watching before Harvey Dent's intro episode. But I'd like to keep watching at some point.

OH, anyone else watching Constantine? Its not as blackly written as the comics (its been a while since I've read Constantine, but that is the impression I was left with) but its still very good, still Constantine cartwheeling on the edge of damnation while everyone around him dies.

I am also watching and i am liking it a lot, its not perfect but Matt Ryan does a great job playing Constantine as the snarking cynic that is John Constantine

For me, Gotham, Agent Carter, Sleepy Hollow, 12 Monkeys, Constantine, Broadchurch, Supernatural, and Wizard Wars are my must-sees.

I'll grant that I'm not much of a comic book fan, but I'm loving Gotham. Among other things, the situation and characters there are so much more nuanced and interesting than anything I've seen involving Batman. So, I can't wait to see what will happen next, and I'm actually finding myself hoping that Batman never shows up.

Broadchurch I'm still following and enjoying, but the court scenes are driving me nuts. In all seriousness, why isn't the prosecutor objecting when when the defence counsel is blatantly badgering the witness or trying to bring in irrelevant evidence? I can't imagine a real trial having that go on without objections flying.

And Wizard Wars...well, that's just FUN...

So, I spent most of the afternoon with a sampler platter of TV shows I've been missing out on. First impressions from the pilot episode:

GOTHAM - I had fun. The dialogue is cliche and archetypal, and the writing leaves a little to be desired. But then again, that's part and parcel for Batman.

ARROW - Shit on cheesy biscuits. I'm told it gets better later. Not a legitimate excuse.

CONSTANTINE - I feel like I should like it, but I can't stop thinking about how much better the Dresden Files does it.

THE FLASH - A resounding "ehhh," mostly because The Flash and his mythos never really tickled my fancy.

THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE - Hot damn, a good Philip K. Dick adaptation. What is this, the eighties?

BROADCHURCH - I love David Tennant in everything he does, and this is no exception. The courtroom scenes bug the shit out of me, though.

COWBOY BEBOP - Holy shit, where have you been all my life?
It's all over but the crying. And the taxes.

I definitely agree with Arrow and the Flash, I watched a few episodes and they just felt like soaps with superpowers, which totally lost my interest. I've been told Claudia Black was in the 2nd season of Arrow, which made me try to get back into it, and I just couldn't make it through the first season.

Having watched the first seven episodes of Arrow, if it does get better then it doesn't do so quickly. Me and my brother only really stayed with it so long as an opportunity to point out the many and varied ways it was terrible.

Yeah, watched the first two seasons, and it wasn't until season two that it became cheesy in a fun way instead of a bad way. But even then, I didn't care enough to keep up with season 3.

I get not liking Arrow, but Flash is pretty much the polar opposite. Arrow tries to be gritty and realistic (at least for the first season).

Flash meanwhile has a guy pulling survivors from a train carriage as it spins in mid-air.

I know which type of show I prefer ;)

And yeah, theres a little bit of soapyness but no more then, say, Buffy had. Its hard to think of any superhero show that isnt also a bit of a soap....after all, that's what Comics are at any point since the 60s.

Just finished off House, now I'm working on Arrested Development. That "showstealer pro trial" thing might be clever, but ruined by the fact that I just looked it up when I got confused why I was seeing it.

I just got in to Agent Carter this week, and man am I enjoying it. It's fun and actiony without focusing on her "woman-ness", she's just a great character, and the dynamic between her and Jarvis is wonderful. I'm really having a good time. Also regarding the smoking on TV bit, ABC is Disney so it's probably a Disney overarching thing.

None of my other shows are in season right now, but I will admit they're also all total trash tv. Not good by any stretch, but I love them all the same.

Still watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. I am almost at the end of the fifth season. Although the average quality of the episodes has greatly increased since the first couple season, I do not know how to feel about the writers' lack of knowledge about physics and astrophysics.

I also binge watched the Neil deGrasse Tyson version of Cosmos which is quite good.
