Australian Runners Thread

Postby JackSlack » 24 Oct 2014, 16:25

So PAX Australia is in 6 days! Holy shit!

Are we gonna meet up or what? When, where?

Here's a poll for when! Feel free to suggest other times, this is just kind of a rough set.

EDIT With PAX done, here is a thread for remembering and posting stuff and basically being Australian. Enjoy!

I will be exhibiting the entire time so come by and say hi at the Screencheat booth at the indie Showcase but if the date/time you guys choose to have an event lines up I'll do my best to get there. Sean would you be able to just send me deats when its organised and I'll tell you if I can make it?

Will do, Nicholas. How long after PAX on Sunday would you require to pack up? One option is after the end of PAX.

I missed out on last year's, so I'd be up for one this time around. I'm fine with practically anything, so there's that.

Antitonic: Make sure you fill in the Doodle poll with all time slots, then. :) Helps me know numbers.

Note: I have added in some Thursday times, which would be before PAX starts but likely when we're all in town.

I don't really mind where or when, but I'd love to meet up.
Been chatting with a Runner who doesn't frequent the forums, @TomEllul, who said he'd be enforcing, so I'm sure he'd be interested.

Ok, got it Nicholas; after PAX doesn't work for you. We'll see what can be done.

Right now there seems to be a preference for just outside PAX. I shall research.

If you have not filled in the Doodlepoll, DOOOO EEEEET.

How do people feel about Bangpop? It's close by and serves it doesn't matter because it's called BANGPOP. (But Thai.)

I would be sold on anywhere called BANGPOP but I'm even more sold that it's Thai food.

I'll have the bf with me too, so also depends what he wants to see, but he'll probably be down for whatever.

If you have any objections to Bangpop or other suggestions, please let me know. NicholasMC, could you do Saturday night 6pm? If so, we'll do then. If not, we meet after show close.

Also, guys, if you are coming to PAX and haven't entered in details in the Doodlepoll, please, PLEASE do so today. I'm planning to make bookings and such this evening.

As noted above, right now we're looking most likely at either Saturday 6:00pm, or Sunday 6:00pm after show close. My leaning is to the latter as Saturday night would likely be hugely busy even without PAX. That said, if we can get NicholasMC in, we will — and that means Saturday night.

Sorry for the delay - just had to make sure I didn't have any messy conflicts.

As for food and such, I usually don't each much of anything anyway, so I don't have any strong opinions one way or the other. As long as it's not full vegetarian/vegan - I require meat.

Or garlic bread. That works too.

Omega Lairon: While I did select Bangpop for its solid vegetarian options, it does indeed proffer the opportunity to devour MEAT.

OK! We are booked in at Bangpop for EDIT: EIGHT people on Sunday at 7pm, under the party name Loading Ready Runners. That puts us half an hour after the show close, should be enough time to get out and get over there while still seeing the end of the Omegathon. Sadly this means we will be sans NicholasMC, a shame as he'd get us 10% off. How's that tempt you, Nick?

Probably not enough. Wouldn't tempt me. ;) Enjoy the party and we'll catch you after the show. (But that offer is apparently good for any exhibitor so if you want a cheap feed for the Screencheat team, head over.)

Also, when I booked in the party as Runners, the guy knew of LRR. So double awesome.

Oh, hey, neat. Guys, make sure you stop by the PAX Promenade.

We can get 10% off at Bangpop there, so it'll be awesome for some wallet savings.

Also!

As a different thing, would we be interested in meeting up during PAX for an Australian Runners Commander game? I would be SO UP FOR THIS.

I'm still 75% away from completion of my deck, my I wouldn't mind watching one.

I do have a deck, I'd be down for it. Twitter is probably the easiest way to get hold of me during the event, unless you can figure out how the Guidebook app works, which I haven't been able to.

Oh yeah. I'd better reinstall Twitter, huh?

Duckay will be bringing a Commander deck too, and I'm pretty sure EikoandMog will be.

Actually, Duckay is bringing two Commander decks: they're neither of them particularly good, but they are on hand.

For folks on Twitter, I'm starting the hashtag #LRRPAX to follow. Use it to co-ordinate, or this thread.

Thanks for the excellent time, all. I still feel kinda bad about ignoring Antitonic when I was half-asleep in line for the magic panel. Also for talking so damn much over dinner. Still, I hope you guys had fun also!

Talking too much? Hardly. That was one of the best parts of my weekend, after Joust.
