Desert Bus 8 Signatures

Postby Admiralmatt » 20 Feb 2015, 16:43

I just got the Desert Bus 8 craft a-long thank you card and I can't identify some of the Signatures.

I have one that is an "I" and a "C" on top of each other
one that is just an illegible signature, it looks like it says John and last name starts with a "T"
one that "A,W"
and one that is a: smiley face, backwards "E", and then another smiley face.

I was trying to identify some of them myself, as I got mine today, too. (Wasn't expecting it either.)
I'm doing process of elimination with some to try to figure out the rest.

Here's what I can easily recognize.

Crew:

Alex - Yes
Ash - Yes
Ashley - Yes
Ashton - Yes
Beej - Yes
Graham - Yes, as G*
James - Yes, as JT
Jer - Yes
Johnny - No
Kara - Yes
Kathleen - Yes, as K and a cat face
Liz - No
Matt - Yes, as MWiggins
Paul - Yes
Tally - Yes
Tara - No

Volunteers:

Andre van Slyke - No
Andrew Ferguson - No
Ben Wilkinson - No
Bill Watt - No
Brendan Baker - No
Cameron Lauder - Yes, as CL
Chris 'Fugiman' Gamble - Yes, as a mountain
Chris Usher - No
Emily Jarrett - No
Heather Dery - No
Ian 'Dix' Dixon - No
Ian Horner - Yes
Joanna Stinson - No
Jordon Hopkins - No
Kate Stark - No
Kate Watt - Yes, as Billsmom!
Kelly Clark - No
Kelsey Ehrlich - No
Louis Moga - No
Matt Griffiths - No
Maya Kramer - No
Max Loy - No
Mia Steinberg - No
Mike Whitaker - No
Sarah Mendiola - No
Serge Yager - No
Simon Afek - No
Thomas Ourada - No

Edit: Have confirmed some identities via Beej and Paul, so there's only one unidentified signature left: the smiley one.
Also confirmed that everyone who signed was part of the DB Planning Committee, except Bill's Mom.

I've still got that your last 2 to identify, as well as one that might start with a P or D and have a last name that starts with A?

I found Paul on mine, it was signed Paul Saunders in a hard to read signature.

I don't think the volunteers signed the cards; I didn't sign any of them.

Well, Bill's Mom is credited as a "Volunteer" and she definitely signed it, so...

Let's just get this by what we can figure. Here's my card, annotated with what I can figure out:

Who is the bright green circled one and the orange circled one that isn't Kathleen?

You're asking the color-blind guy to tell you which ones are in which named colors?

Also, all the names I figured out are on the bottom of the picture...

I'll make an assumption about which ones you're referring to and say Alex and Cam?

...the picture must have not loaded correctly last night...I didn't see the names and some of them were not circled. I didn't know you were colour blind, sorry. But yes those were the ones I was referring to. :)

You must've been loading it while I was still working on it.

I would guess Ian and Johnny signed it.

That might make sense, but which signatures are they? There are only 5 signatures that are questionable, in my opinion.

I would "meta-game" and assign the one that looks japanese (small one, bottom right, besides Kara and below JT) to Ian.

Found out on Beej's stream who some of the signatures are, one of which was Fugi, so the picture has been updated. Only 1 unidentified signature at this point, the smiley one at the bottom right.

When I originally saw this thread, I ran to the mailbox to check for mine. I returned disappointed.

Thankfully, it made it today, so I can rejoice! (And put it with my DB6 card and patch.)

Fun fact, the signatures on mine are almost exactly in the same place, except for Alex, who decided to sign on the other side of the card. That rascal...

Fun fact: It's in the same place on mine, and I moved it in the scan to make the image smaller. :D

You keep saying "im color blind" when people refer to names by their color outline, yet you are the one who keeps posting the image with the only way to identify the names is by the color of the outline.

Perhaps putting the "identified" names next to the image rather than continuing to use a system of identification which you can't see?

That... is something I never considered. I was just making sure the colors looked different to me, without worrying what colors they were, and then just used the eyedropper tool to make the text match the colors. I was just assuming that it would help others, and have people say "the one you've identified as 'Kathleen'" or something...

Also, I can tell some of the colors easily enough.
Graham - red
Beej - blue
Alex - green
Bill's Mom - light gray
Ash - dark gray
Ian - light blue
Tally - pink
James - yellow
Ashley and Kara - two different shades of red, not quite pink...

Paul... A different blue, or possibly purple? Same with ????
Matt, Jer, and Ashton... Brown?
Kathleen... Orange, I think?
Cam... A different orange?
Fugi... Some sort of green or orange?

And I think I ended up using the more problematic colors on the more questionable names, somehow...

They were easier to distinguish what colors they were exactly while I was making it in GIMP, to be honest, but they are no longer.

I'm sorry that I'm stupid, Hosk. :(

Not sure exactly who it might be referring to, but a quick Katakana->Romaji conversion gives the following options for the mystery signature (depending on the diacritics):

シゴン Shigon
ジコン Jikon
ジュン Jun

zA: How do I relax?
Evil Jim: Jerk off.
Frozengale: You know you're on the internet when Masturbation is the first suggestion.
