Interested in starting/joining an online crafting circle?

Postby Timelady » 06 Mar 2015, 13:38

Starting a new thread seemed easier than continuing on in the general chat thread...especially after I dropped the topic for a week. :P

Anyway, I'd had the thought that maybe it would be fun and a good way to get to know each other if once a week, perhaps, a group of us could sit and do our respective crafts with each other over a group Skype chat or Google Hangout or whatever. You guys all seem like such interesting, talented people!

So, would anyone still be interested in this? And if so, do you have a preference for time, day of the week, and service to use?

Personally, I tend to work weeknights (8pm-12am UTC), Wednesdays, and Saturday mornings (2pm-6pm UTC), but other than that am generally available.

I think UTC is GMT judging from the forum time and the loading ready live schedule (Wikipedia didn't help). I would be interested in this starting in the end of April, where my schedule would be pretty flexible. I am too tired to convert time right now.

I'm generally available every night (social life is non-existent).

I'm the same as Elomin, I'm available pretty much every evening, other than Sunday where I'm in a voice based Star Wars pen and paper. I'm GMT +1, but don't tend to be too fussed about bending my hours for socializing. :P

Does working on videos or writing count as "crafting?"

If so, totally. (though I really doubt I could write and talk at the same time)

Hmmm, so so far it's looking like starting around 12:30-1am GMT on a weeknight? Or I could go way earlier on Saturdays, if that's too late for the Europe people? Would that work for you, Fayili?

Also, as far as I'm concerned, making videos and writing are totally crafts. ^.^

That works for me, would prefer not doing it on tuesday though, since I have to get up early-ish on Wednesday. :)

Yessssssss. :D And delirium makes for the best dancing, Elomin!

So, Tuesday nights/Wednesday mornings (depending on time zone) are out, And I'd prefer not to do Wednesday night/Thursday morning. That leaves Monday, Thursday, and Friday nights. Does anyone have a preference? Friday/early Saturday, to give people in the later time zones a chance to sleep in after, maybe?

Ugh, early morning classes. I can't remember which I hated worst, those or the late at night ones where I was too tired by then to pay attention.

I mean, the schedule is easiest for me, since it's the evening and not late night. But if you can't decide otherwise, I'd go for Fridays.

For me my class wasn't until 9am so I had to wait until 8am at a nearby Tesco to open up to get a hot breakfast. The bus from Aberdare was once every two hours. It was horrible, only myself to blame.

I'll vote Friday/Saturday then, despite not having a preference really.

I'll jump in on this, though would anyone know what time it would be for central Canada? So long as it's after 11:59pm or before 1pm I am free. Sadly I work nights/evenings, so I'm hoping this would hit the later time slot for me.

Sounds fun! Friday/Saturday works best for me - I work "normal" daytime hours, so evenings in the Central US time zone are best for me.

So it looks like we're headed for this. (aka 9pm Toronto, 8pm central US.) With BlueChloroplast coming in around the end of April. Does that look okay for everyone? An last minute objections, because this is going WAY too easy? :D

I may be just getting home at the start of it, but it should be fine overall. Sad Minni can't make it, though. :/
