GoFundMe

Postby AdmiralMemo » 06 May 2015, 00:07

I'm starting this thread due to my cousin, but thought it should be open and general enough for other GoFundMe things we may want to share.

My cousin needs a bone marrow transplant.

No problem. I was tempted to write on the page either: "First!" or "I don't know you. Here's some money."

Memo: Donated, and please pass on my wishes for easy surgery and a swift recovery to your cousin.

For me, this is something less urgent. And takes a little more explanation. I have a friend named Crystle. I met her through karate. She was happy, funny and one of the few people who consistently told me that I needed to hit her harder

We knew she had had a brain tumor before coming to karate. Turns out to have been a whole neuro-endocrine disease that's messed her up quite a bit. It's not the sort of thing she's going to get better from. But before she gets to be too bad, she wants to fulfill a dream of hers and see America. As much of it as she can, coast to coast. It's not urgent, like I said, but if you've got a little to spare it would be greatly appreciated.

As a note, yes the video is down and I don't know why.

Happy to say that my cousin got $1000 from friends, family, and Runners. Then, the company he works for fronted the other $2500, and then also donated another $2500 to the American Cancer Society. My cousin now has enough for treatment of his cancer. :)

So then if we donate to this, will the funding get donated now that your brother has enough for the treatment?

Cousin, and yes, I think so? He'll probably need more treatments in the future.

Welp... Next week, I'm officially out of income. I never thought I'd have to resort to this, but I've set up my own GoFundMe in hopes of just paying my bills. I really hope I can get hired soon... :-(

I don't like doing this, but it's gotten tough.

True Backstory - Click to Expand
I've been stressing for a year now on paying for our wedding. I almost cancelled it 3 times, but my fiancé didn't want to. Now it is too late to do so (45 days to go). We have so much to do and absolutely no money to do it with (seriously, no savings). Even for household stuff (such as rent and daycare among other things). Luckily the main part of our wedding (venue and food) is being covered by my future mother-in-law, but the legal things and extras fall to us. We don't need much, but anything to help would be amazing.
My dad said he is contributing a bit, but he had his wedding on August first and my older sister's wedding this Saturday to worry about. Also, he is not very good at remembering things. He was almost scheduled to work for my wedding.
I'm sorry, but we're at the point that we need to choose between paying rent, or buying diapers/food/bus fare.

The description for the GoFundMe page is a completely wrong story, to avoid offending my future mother-in-law. She wasn't even happy when I posted it as a honeymoon fund for our families to contribute to.

Because he asked? Also he's a great father and he didn't have to be one when we met.

Also, this may sound cheesy, he is literally the man of my dreams. Meaning I met him in a dream before I met him in real life.

Also, Hurk-Blargh!

Also, also, to the Awesome Brothers fans. I know Portnoy Awesome is the Awesome Brother's father but people have duplicate names.

My cousin and his wife were unfortunately given only 10 days to come up with $1500 to pay for the paperwork that will prevent her from being deported. Please help if you can. :-(
