Yay for knitting! Yay for LRRBabby!

Trisha Lynn
...any excuse to buy yarn, really...

Oh man, I so want to jump on this bandwagon... but I'm sure people have it covered already. But it's so tempting...

I'm wondering if the yarn industry long ago starting adding chemicals that force people to want to knit things for new babies.

I'm not saying knitting for babies is a bad thing, but it's a strange thing to see over and over again for someone that does not knit.

I mean, it's not like iOS programmers find out their friend is having a baby and think, "Ohhhh! I've totally got to write an app for their baby. I wonder if their aunt is already writing an app for them. I'll have to make sure my app is a different color than their app."

Knowing the people LRR know, however, that may not be the best counterexample.

I think it's just the time and love that is required to knit something, and babies just make people fall in love. My sister is having a baby this Christmas and I desperately want to find the time to quilt the baby a blanket. I salute those who can knit blankets. I have a hard time finishing a scarf (currently working on 2 for my kids).

This news surprised me. I could have sworn Kathleen wasn't interested in having children, being the crazy cat lady and all.
I'm sure they will be great parents, and I wish them all the luck, and patience in the world.

They do have those robotic cat ears... Just stick them on the kid and Kathleen will think the kid's a cat. Then the nurturing instinct will kick in. ;-) :-D

While it was getting more and more obvious anyway, I kept trying to find an explanation, but none other made sense... and yet... after everything I've heard Kathleen say about babies/little kids, how could she possibly want one?! And yet here we are... and it's absolutely delightful to hear! The most heartfelt of congratulations to Graham & Kathleen as well as the tiny being that is going to luck out by entering their lives.

While I fully expect Kathleen to love that child to bits, I also still expect an occasional reference to something like "that little sticky slime machine" to roll off her tongue. :)

I think it's somehow always entirely reasonable to think that way about someone ELSES kid. I suspect it'll be entirely different if it's your own kiddo.

Nicer than LoadingReadyRunts.

And a lot nicer than LRRSpawn... I would like to throw one alternative into the race, based on the phrasing "tiny human" in Graham's blog post we could be talking about the first LRRmunculus.

I just learned about this from Crapshots Episode 293. Like I said on the Crapshots forum, I think we're at that awkward stage where it's too late to congratulate you on the pregnancy, but too early to congratulate you on the birth.

I think I'm inclined towards the latter, though, since by all accounts giving birth is much harder (and thus more worthy of congratulations) than getting pregnant. In case I forget to say this when it's time, congratulations in advance for your kid!

Well, now you can congratulate them on having a baby!

It feels weird to just post the picture from Twitter, so here's a link to Graham's tweet.

Super huge congratulations to Graham and Kathleen for making a whole, entire person!

A good day for a birthday! Penelope made a excellent choice.
As a long time user of this particular birthday, I have never had to take it back, or change it. Its solid workmanship all the way.
:D

Also Penelope looks incredibly dignified.
